I don't "detox." I just focus on eating a good diet for the next few days. Lots of veggies (fresh is best) and fruits (again, fresh). The fiber really helps it all move through and I feel better after a few days.
Oh, and plenty of water.
Hi all,
I'm usually a pretty healthy eater but this past few weeks I have had so many events that eating was the main star. I feel so bogged down now and the detox tea I've been drinking is leaving me with that "water logged" feeling. Is there any other way you detox after too many chocolate eclairs, cheesecake, homeade ice-cream, bbq's etc...?? I'd love to hear how you get back on track and cleanse your body of all the yucky gunk (and if the side effect is some weight loss, even better!).
Thanks!

Make a commitment to a healthy nutrition plan that you can adopt for a lifestyle and soon you'll be feeling better.
Skip the detox junk. It isn't necessary. Good food is the only supplement you really need.

Eat fresh fruit and veggies all day broken up into 6 small meals for at least 72 hours. Drink lots of water and it will help flush your body of the the extra fats and sugars.....Then go to healthy eating with a more balanced diet. GL!

I personally think detox diets are a hoax...I don't think our bodies need a specified detox.
Just make sure you are eating healthy, exercising, taking a multi vitamin and drinking plenty of water then you are doing good. I think keeping consistent with those helps your body stay on track. Keep treats and processed food to a minimum..eat more whole foods...veggies...fruits...whole grains. Exercise and fluids really keeps your body flowing regularly if you know what I mean....
Drink lots of water and detox just naturally happens
You can do what's called a Daniel fast and that will do a very good job of it. Look it up online, it is based on Daniel from the Bible and what he ate when exiled to Babylon, basically fruits and veggies and legume protein sources. My mom did one for 21 days and dropped 10 lbs and she said she always felt totally full. You could just try it for a week or so and it should work really well. As I said you can just look it up online for more info, people do it for spiritual reasons to draw close to God as well as simply for health purposes and it is a very healthy way to eat so you won't be shocking your body or anything. Good luck!!
What Detox tea are you drinking. Most of those are just for the liver and kidneys at least Arbonne's so you need to detox your colon as well. We have a 7 day detox that makes you feel energized, loose a few pounds, clears up the skin etc. You feel great after doing it but we also have a supplement you can take to cleanse the colon. I use the Detox Tea (doesn't make me feel water logged it makes me feel refreshed), I take 1-3 colon cleanse supplements a few times a week and drink the 7 day cleanse every month and take my Essential Multi Vitamins, the Omega 3's and try to eat organic foods when available. I will PM my web site and contact info. I don't hound people but I do love to give them information.
Warm water with real lemon in it... grapefruit.... vegetables in general... lay off the white refined flour and rice, bread etc....
Detox diets are not only a hoax, they can be dangerous. Eat some raw fruits and veggies for a couple of days. Then incorporate them into your daily meals along with whole grains, nuts and clean water.
The miracle I love is magnesium. If I've over indulged I take a 500 mg tab at night before bed with a full glass of water. It will clean out your intestines. I take a 250 almost daily, keeps ya regular.
a few times after feeling horrible I have done a fresh squeezed grape fruit juice fast (2-3 days). I feel back to normal after a short juice fast. It gives you some calories so you don't starve, but gives your digestive system a rest and your body a chance to reboot. As for detox, thats what your liver and kidneys are there for.
Hi H.,
My family uses a fiber supplement that cleanses the digestive system. It's very gentle, tastes good and works. It will even push illness through your system faster so you're up and running faster. One glass a day is all I use. It's also full of vitamins and antioxidants.
There's nothing wrong with a complete detox but keeping the toxins from building up in the first place is why we use this particular method.
God bless,
M.
I do two things when I'm in the situation you are in. These don't clean out my colon, they just leave me feeling better...even my skin.
One is that I make sure to drink plenty of water. To a pitcher of water I add one whole lemon, sliced, and several cucumber slices. I let it sit in the fridge overnight, then just drink it throughout the day.
The other is that I make a soup from veggie broth or chicken broth. With the broth I simmer 1/4 habanero pepper, grated ginger root, crushed garlic. In the bowl I have some sliced carrots, jicama, diced cucumber and chopped cilantro. Remove the habanero from the broth and pour the broth over the veggies in the bowl.
I just eat one or two servings of that soup each day for a couple of days, along with leafy greens (either in salad, or just to munch on raw), and maybe some fruit.
Again, this isn't a bowel cleanse, and it's not a weight loss trick. The truth is that drinking enough water and eating enough leafy greens might do the same thing, even without the soup, but the soup seems to leave me feeling cleaner throughout my body.
Detox is such a hogwash. Unless your liver and kidneys are failing you don't need detoxing. It is all in your head. Just eat less junk and more fresh fruit and veggies and go for walks.
I am not an Arbonne rep, but I have to comment on JB's suggestiong below about the 7 day detox. Of all the detox programs I have ever done, the 7 day from Arbonne is my absolute favorite!
I do not believe that all detox programs are harmful or a hoax. Sometimes our bodies DO need help getting rid of toxins, especially since most people don't eat strictly organic foods and consume the pesticides that innundate our food supply.
The Arbonne detox is super gentle, you never need to rush to the bathroom! :) and it makes you feel GREAT! I highly recommend it.
Hi H.,
I really like the 4 day Diet (detox). It is a book by Dr. Ian Smith. You basically eat lots of fruits & vegetables. It's for only 4 days which seems like forever, but you feel so good afterwards. Instead of buying the book check your library to see if you can check it out.
Good Luck!!
p.s. Day 2 is the worst...
Hmmmm..if we did detox naturally then we would not have the obesity epidemic that we do. Sure our bodies CAN detox naturally, but they don't, they are too backed up with gunk. I know because I lived that life for a long time.
42 lbs over weight, tired, cranky, eating lots of junk and not understanding what the toxicity in our environment was doing to my body. So I decided to learn. Now 5 years later, I released all the gunk, i am pharmaceutical free, i eat clean, i exercise and I am in love with myself again.
