non important question LOL but my LO who is 19 mo old just decided that she wants to wear headbands all the time, yeah bc they are so cute! I have been looking in Target/walmart for some and have not found many and if I did they were like $4 a pop! So where do you get your super cute headbands for your DD? Does anyone make their own? where do you buy the headbands to add the ribbon and flowers to? any other comments/suggestions are welcome. thanks in advance!

I buy my bows on www.bloomingbows.com They have huge sales a couple of times a year. I buy really cute but basic colors that go with the seasons wardrobe. I only buy 2-3. I bought black, white, pink, navy, rasberry 3 years ago and she still wears them. They also have several different clips that we have also used for years.

I had the same issue yesterday. We're taking our daughter in for her 1st b-day portrait today and were running around all day yesterday looking for a headband to match her dress. I ended up at Michael's craft store and found the plastic headbands that you can use to make your own. They're in the same aisle as the ribbon. They also have fake flowers and charms that you can put on the headband. I bought the ribbon and the headband and made it as soon as I got home, matches her dress perfectly! The only problem is that, though the headband is on $2, the ribbon ranges from $4-$7 or so. So, unless you're going to use one roll of the same ribbon for multiple headbands (which you may not want to do if you want different colors/patterns for ea. headband), it may not be worth the money to do it yourself. They do have a very limited selection of thin ribbon for $1, so that could work for you, but I think you would need 2 rolls of those for 1 headband which would make the cost about $4 ($2 for the ribbon + $2 for the headband)...so you would pay what you would for the ones you see in walmart/target.

My daughters are very girly girls and love to wear bows and headbands. I know a few SAHMs who make bows and sell them, and they will even take custom orders if you are trying to match a certain color or style. Try googling hairbows and then the name of your city, and see what comes up. You can also look at farmer's markets or little boutiques. In our town there is even a whole store dedicated to hairbows in the mall! No kidding. However, they are not cheap. The inexpensive small ones are $2-3, and it just goes up from there.

May I suggest as well that once you start in with buying hairbows, get a length of ribbon you can hang on the wall, so you have somewhere to store the bows without crushing them in a drawer.

If you're crafty at all, you can sew or crochet (or...) your own from scrap fabric (I love the scrap bin at JoAnn's/Michael's). Just google "tutorial girls headband" and I'm sure you'll come up with loads of ones you can try.

I got some super cute headbands for my girls on etsy.com. I don't remember how much they were, but I can tell you that they've lasted the longest out of any I've ever bought, so they were worth it. You could also try Claire's in pretty much any mall, or Justice. They usually have headbands. Also, sometimes, in malls, there are those kiosks that sell hair accessories for kids. I've thought about making them, but by the time I added up all the items needed to make them, they ended up being more expensive than if I'd just bought them in the first place.

Sometimes It is more expensive to buy the headband, flower and ribbon to do it yourself, because you have to buy in bulk. (the ribbon, flowers, swarovsky, etc)
I ABSOLUTELy LOVEEEEEEE this Headbands www.zirimi.com
They are the cutest I've ever seen. They are not super cheap, but the quality is amazing, the swarovsky won't fall off. I have the one with felted flowers and the one with the big crochet flower in colors. My daughter won't take them off.

You can buy some at the dollar stores, also you can try in Craigslist.
At stores I think K-mart and Walmart are cheaper.
You can even try to make your own, go to Michael's and buy all you need (from flowers to ribbon or elastic, etc) you can either glue the stuff or use a needle and tread. I will go for the second because is safer and I will last longer.
