How Do You Organize Your Little GIRLS' HAIR ITEMS?

I have a basket for ponies, hair clips, combs, and brush. It stays on the bathroom counter. I love how it is all contained, and the convenience of being able to grab the basket and do their hair at the kitchen table to save time. However, if I try to put in headbands, bows, or the whole new package of ponies we just got, it's a crazy mess. Suggestions?

My daughters are 2 & 3 yrs old.

What can I do next?

I use a plastic shoe holder that goes on the back of a door, the pockets are clear so I can see all the way to the bottom. Its great, we keep brushes, combs, bottles of hair detangler and such. Bows, clips and head bands, it holds my stuff too :)

I saw the cutest idea in a magazine one time. Decorate a Oatmeal container (the tall cylinder container) They had used a real cute contact paper on the outside. You can attach the headbands to the outside (have them wrap around the container) and then fill the middle with pony holders etc. I imagine you could even create something on the lid to attach barretts to.
I made a yarn braid for all my daughter hair clips that i saw in Family Fun magazine. It was super easy.

I make bows for my daughter and I buy or make those fabric and ribbon covered boards that are nicely decorated for posting pictures and little notes. Home improvement shows often feature them in office areas or kitchen areas to pin coupons, photos, etc. Well, I have one hanging in my daughters' bathroom and one in each of their rooms. The fabric matches their room decor and their bows clip to the ribbon that criss-crosses the boards. The headbands loop through the ribbon as well and hang off the bottom. All I have in the drawers are the brushes and rubberbands. Those bows are so stinking cute, why hide them!? Hope this helps!

I use a tackle box (e.g., bead box, craft box, tool box...).

I am so glad you asked this question. I am going to get a plastic tool box now. Grey will not work for my daughter so, hopefully they have something delightful . :)

I use clear plastic fishing tackle boxes. They're cheap, have adjustable compartments and you can see through them. I LOVE 'em!

I have a cube box from Target that has a hinged lid. It is small, but big enough, I think it's about a 7-8in cube. It has a pretty spanish design on all the sides. It fits all her flowers, clips, headbands (she has every color flower in a big size). I bought it before she was born because I loved the box and then used it for her hair stuff.

How about those plastic desk drawer organizers (they normally house paper clips?).
You could use several small mini baskets (we use these).
Also, you will probably have to "check up" on these little mini organizers as your little mini "loves" are probably too young to keep them filled and organized. :)

I have a two-sided craft organizer. On one side I've arranged small compartments for clips, elastics, ribbons, etc. On the other side I did not compartmentalize it so that it was a large enough area for hard head bands. The case has a handle and is easy to carry around. My daughter loves to carry it around to do all her dolls and friends hair too when they play. The organization makes it easy for her to sort and put away herself. My DD just turned 7.

I found a small plastic "tool box" to be the answer. The tray on top (with all the different compartments) is ideal for keeping clips etc organised and the bottom section easily holds brushes, headbands etc. My daughter is 15 years old now and she still uses it! :) Hope this helps. Good luck and best wishes.

I use the 3 drawer plastic containers you can get at Walmart/Target, etc. Think mini version of those big plastic containers for the toys on this is a small one that can either go on the countertop in the bathroom, under the sink, or even in their room.

I put all scrunchie/ponytail holders in one drawer, hair clips in another, and head bands in another. If the drawer is too full - that means they have too much and time to get rid of it, lol. They are also in charge of keeping it clean and organized.

For hairbows we have a hairbow board that they go on. :) You can easily make them. My future MIL made one for my daughter and it holds all of her bows and she's got a bunch.

I have my daughters bows clipped on the ribbons attached to a wooden initial ( vertically ) it hangs in her room on the wall and we just color coordinate with an outfit. Headbands and pony holders I have in ziplac bags sized and colorized, this way I can always find what im looking for.

Just get a long piece of ribbon and thumb tack it to the wall vertically and clip the bows to it. Or people make cute bow holders on Etsy. I hang my daughters in her closet though so no one sees it. Then for the clips & ponies I use Fossil tins that my watches came in. She doesn't wear headbands, so I don't have a suggestion for that :)

I bought a 3 gallon trash bucket, clear, and threw all the girls hair stuff and nail polish in there. It stays UNDER the bathroom sink. Since it's clear, they can see what they're digging for without dumping the whole thing out. i also routinely throw a handle out now and then, because for some reason we keep accumulating more!!

I use one of those organizers with the pockets that you can hang on the back of the door or in the closet. They are also used for jewelry. Works great!

My sister has 3 girls, ages 9 to 4 and a ton of hair bows! She bought a couple hanger looking things with a ribbon belt hanging down (sorry I don't know the name). She clips their bows on them. This way they stay pretty and dont get smashed. I've seen them at a children's consignment store in my town, and on esty.

I have my daughters in a couple baskets in the bathroom drawers. It drives me crazy because there is no organization!
