Before bed, sand them down with a pumice stone and then rub on either Vick's vapo rub or vasaline and put socks on.
What can I use to cure and prevent cracked heels. I tried Ulta today and the young girl there wasn't much of assistance. I am headed back to work after being a SAHM. Cracked heels were okay at the playground, but not cool at work. : )
Thank you all so much for the wonderful suggestions!!!
Before bed, sand them down with a pumice stone and then rub on either Vick's vapo rub or vasaline and put socks on.
There is a product called Zim's crack cream.......you can either get a lotion or an oil and with frequent use, it works really well. I did it at bedtime and put some socks on.
Valeline is the only thing and it takes a long time committed every day. Where it to bed with sox. Use a sanding tool dry and if you can get a electric tool that has fine sanding on a dremel can really help. Exfoliate with gel too. G. W
After many years of pedicures, I finally got one last October that really paid off. I actually learned what causes cracked heels and picked up some wonderful tips. Dryness causes cracked heels. First thing, and it is not as easy as it sounds, is never go barefoot. The oils in your feet are drawn out by the carpet, tile and basically any flooring in and outside of your house. Something as simple as wearing shoes and/or socks will keep the oils in. Also, at least every other day I use a pumice-type stone in the shower on heels and toes. Every day after my shower I use a great heel cream that I buy online. It is called Cucumber Heel Therapy by SpaPedicure (or Creative Spa). I pay something like $35 for a 4-6 month supply. I put it on, sparingly, focusing on heels mainly and then put on those little thin socks you can buy at any Target, Bed Bad and Beyond, drugstore, etc. Wear them for a couple of hours. You don't have to wear them to bed, but you can. My feet are really soft and smooth now. I've gotten comments from other people giving pedicures. Hope this helps!
I have spent so much money on these types of items. Believe it or not- Johnsons Baby oil gel, or olive oil w/ socks at night works best. You also have to scrub w/a pumice stone 2/3x's a week. Good luck!
J.,
Wow! Lots of great advice. I will second the vaseline petroleum jelly approach. It is very cheap, and it really, really, works. Sandals can really make your heels crack, and who doesnt wear them all summer? After you shower, put a little baby oil on first, and then add the vaseline. Put on your socks, and go to bed. If in a pinch, do this immediately after a shower, put on socks while you get dressed, and then remove them. Just wipe your feet with a baby wipe, towel and they will be pretty smooth. Good luck!
I have had dry craked heals ALL of my life and I love the bath and body works foot stuff. They used to have gel socks, they don't sell them anymore, that were AMAZING. I am pretty sure that you can find a similar sock by Dr Sholls. If you can't find those wrap your feat in plastic after caking on the lotion, ointment of your choice and then put socks on and go to bed. I always wake up in the middle of the night and have to take it of but it makes a huge differance.
The #1 best seller of avon's foot works product line is the cracked heel relief cream. And believe me, it works wonders!! I just love it. I also use the pumice stone in the shower, and the deep moisture cream with socks (all avon products). Avon is really inexpensive and they have a 100% money back guarantee if you're not satisfied!
I hope this helps.
I used Burt's Bees Coconut Foot Creme with Viamin E. When they are really, really, bad, I put the creme on and then some pure cotten socks and slept all night that way. The next morning you will see a 95% improvement. Do this for a couple of days and the cracks are all gone. At least that was my experience.
For what it's worth...
Good luck in being a working mom. It's a juggle any way you look at it.
Hey J. - I went through this with dry hands and tried different lotions based on the recommendations posted. I found the best thing was for me to use the stone to scrub off dead skin...so any scrubbing will work and then you should then apply whatever product right after you get out of the shower so that there is still moisture in your skin. I used the Airborne product because my friend sold it and it worked. But I also went to The Body Shop and got the cocoa butter since it was for really dry skin. I like it too and it's less expensive. At night I reapply and sleep in socks. Good Luck! :-)
I second the Arbonne Re9 Body Care set. It is really amazing... I've used it for my feet... and for the loose skin in my tummy area (I lost my baby weight, but it's tough to get that skin back to pre-baby firmness!) Good luck!

I stand firmly behind the Arbonne body serum & lotion. I am a consultant and can get you the products at 35% off by using my i.d. They are incredible... I have suggested these products to all of my friends and family & they love them... I would be glad to email you some before and after photos (they will amaze).
Let me know if you are interested, I would love to try and help.
Take care...
Hey J.! I have terrible trouble with my feet each spring & summer, because I love to run around barefoot and wear tons of flip flops. The cure that I have found is keeping my feet very well moisturized at night. I use "Shea it isn't toe" shea butter lotion from Bath N Body Works, $20 for a spa size bottle (xlg). It works wonders overnight!
Best Wishes,

I have very bad cracked heels during the winter. The only product that works for me is CCS Foot Care Cream, made in Sweden. You can buy it at any Foot Solution stores, The ones that sales shoes for diabetics. I pay $13 for a 2 oz tube. Kind of expensive, but you just need to use a little on the problem areas. The web site for the product is: www.nordiccare.com
Good luck!

Hi J., I am having the same problem. I *just* went to Beauty Brands (there is one on park and plano parkway)..near Willowbend Mall. I bought a Tweezerman heel file and it worked GREAT yesterday. I had seriously cracked heels....this file removed most of them the first time I used it the shower. It was expensive..around $17.00, but came with refills and the store does carry just refill packs.
I also use Thymes Food Lotion. I believe I bought that at the "Beauty" store in the Tom Thumb plaza at Parker and Tollroad in Plano.
Good luck!

Hi J.,
Before bed coat your feet in vaseline and sleep in socks. You'll wake up to feet that are smooth as a baby's bottom. And it's really cheap.

If you would like to order please let me know. I am also doing parties right now and offering some really good deals. Let me know Id love to give you a deal too....C. ###-###-####
2 things that help - -
Use Cetaphil Cream (can be found at WalMart or CVS) on your feet every night and every morning.
Take 1 Tbsp of Barleans Flax Seed Oil every morning. It helps soften skin from the inside out. You'll see a ton of other positive side effects as well - better overall skin, softer & shinier hair, improved mood, better digestion, etc. I recommend taking it in a shot glass with Sunny D. It was the only thing that made it tolerable to go down. You can find Flax Seed Oil at a Health Food store and I only recommend Barleans because the other brands aren't the same quality.
This is advice from my podiatrist- sounds odd but works. Use medium grit sandpaper and very gently buff the cracks/thick skin away.
Hi there,
My mother in law has really horribly dry feet and cracked heals. I had her try Shea Butter Foot and Elbow Cream from AVON. She buys about one a month from me. The full price is $8.50 each tub. I don't carry stock of it but you can order on my website and it can be shipped to you. The great thing is if you don't like it, you can return it for a 100% money back. www.youravon.com/mdick Hope this helps. M.
Try Kerasal, or spelled something like that. It worked for me. You just have to follow the directions. Good Luck!
Gold Bond Healing lotion...it works wonders!! My husband works with sheet metal and he is ALWAYS comming home with dry cracks on his hands. Since he has been useing this stuff, he hasn't had any problems : )It works fast too!
callex, i think that's the name of it...or crack cream...literally called that...it works...

Hello J.,
I use to have the same problem, but Avon makes a foot lotion called Cracked Heel Relief-it works wonders!! I use it on my husband too!! It's not too expensive either, they do sales a lot for $3.99!!Otherwise, I think it is like 6 or 7 dollars.
Try the Special Attention Cream from Warm Spirit at www.warmspirit.com or give me a call at ###-###-#### to order. It's also good for elbows, excema....
gold bond ultimate healing w/ aloe . white bottle w/ gold & blue lettering " aloe " in light blue lettering . also , use some neosporen on and down in your cracks along w/ the lotion . try to get in the habbit of daily after bath / shower while your feet are soft of rubbing them down & put socks on for a few minutes or atleast untill the lotion has absorbed in !!! another great product is regeneration extreme repair by beauticontrol. it is not very expensive it says " hand therapy " on the tube but it works great on feet , too !!! i have suffered w/ this problem for a long time but finally have it under control . if i skip a day or 2 of not rubbing my feet w/ lotion it really starts to start back w/ dryness . if they get real bad i mix vaseline w/ the lotion and that is great , too !!! note : the neosproren really heals the cracks quickly !! if the cracks are very deep put neosporen liberally and use flex -style butterfly designed band-aids around your heal and keep on all night and or day . i hope these ideas help you , they have really helped me !! also , get a nice pedicure w/ the wax dip to help !!! good luck !!- ks
Hey J.! I'm a Mary Kay consultant, and we have a product that will work wonders on your feet! It's the Extra Emollient Night Cream. It's $11. You can send me a private message if you would like some more information on it or any other great Mary Kay products.
The best thing I've ever seen is the RE9 Body Serum and Lotion from Arbonne. I can send you a before and after picture to your email if you'd like to see. My step mom uses it, and her heels were so bad that she (crazy crazy woman) super glued them together when the cracks got so big!! I can let you try some for a few days at no cost if you'd like. Let me know. You can email me at ____@____.com or call ###-###-#### I can guarantee you that you'll see a difference. We stand behind our products and offer a complete money back guarantee if you aren't satisfied. So there's nothing to lose with it. Good luck, and I hope to hear from you!

Hi J.,
I agree with the Arbonne suggestions! I am amazed at how well the RE9 Body Serum & Lotion works. I wanted to see if it worked as well as the before and after picture showed, so I used the RE9 Body Serum and Lotion for two weeks on one foot and not the other. I was really amazed at the difference! I have a sample packet that you can have if you'd like to try it--I know I like to try things out before I buy them! The Arbonne products are formulated in Switzerland and are botanically-based, dermatologist tested, and Vegan certified. Please let me know if you're interested. There's absolutely no obligation to buy whatsoever--the samples are FREE.
Good luck in your search and have a wonderful day & weekend!
Jacqueline
J., not that you need any other opinions, but I am not a consultant for anyone and this opinion is not biased in any way :o)
Heel of Approval by Bath and Body Works did wonders for my husband's cracked heels. Give it a try...it's minty too!
the best thing I've ever found is lanolin--the pure kind you use when you're nursing. I put it on at night and slip some cotton socks on over it and by morning they are really soft and over several days or a week cracks will start to heal. If they're deep cracks you can also put some neosporin on them and after a couple days take a pumice and lightly exfoliate, but be sure and go with the crack, not across it or you'll hurt yourself. good luck!
I have a couple of products made by Arbonne that I have used and that I have given to friends/family to try for that same reason and we have all been extremely happy with both of them. If you are interested I would be more than happy to give you some samples to try or you can order them as well. My email address is ____@____.com or you can call me at ###-###-####. My office is in Rowlett. Thanks!
Blue Star Ointment has been around forever and works really well. you can get it at the pharmacy. Put it on and slip your socks on with it..try to sleep with it on if you can. My dad had bad cracked heels and he would always brag to me about Blue Star. If you are like me...you probably walk around barefoot a lot. You are going to have to start wearing shoes (not flip flops) around the house. Good luck!
Hi J.,
Try "Heel of Approval" from Bath & Body. I love it!
Oh I've got the best answer for you!!! I know you've gotten lots of responces, but I've seen this work on the worst of feet!
Mary Kay has a Satin Hands set that is amazing for the feet!
We also have a great pedicure set as well. It has the foot soak with mint in it so its relaxing at the same time. It comes with a great foot scrub and a leg/foot energizing lotion as well. It has the scrub brush and all in a cute bag. Its actually from last summer but still works GREAT! Let me know if you are intersted, I'll cut you a pretty good deal since I've had it for almost 10 months now. But its still brand new! :o)
You'll see results immediately and for more "help" the emoliant night cream that comes in the Satin Hands is like NONE other! Take a shower, put this on your feet with some socks just before bed and wake up with new feet!
I'd love to show it to ya! Let me know! :o)

Hi J., I too have dealt with this and tried so many different products. I finally tried the True Blue Spa products from Bath and Body Works. The Heel of Approval cream is for cracked heels and works wonderfully. I also use the foot lotion and always use a pumice stone in shower. Another thing that helped was getting a pedicure at least once a month.
I swear by Kerasal! My heels start getting dry and I use it for a day or two and they're back to normal! Good luck, especially with going back to work!
