I fight the battle all the time and I almost never go barefoot. I use a number of Avon products, pumice, a heel file, and sleep in thin socks after putting all the stuff on my feet. They're a whole lot better.
I am a barefoot girl...I LOVE to wear sandals and flip flops in the summer. I hate socks and only wear socks and shoes when I have to. I think this contributes to the bad callous on my feet and the fact that I do not use a moisturizer on them. The callous is getting really bad and I want my feet to look nice in sandals or flip flops. Do you know what I can use to begin the removal of the callous? I assume this will take a number of treatmens due to the thickness of it. My husband teases me and says it's like sandpaper. I really would love to have soft, pretty feet!

I'm a barefoot garden girl too. I use my pumous stone or file in the shower every time!!! That usually keeps them to a minimum, but sometimes I put tons of lotion on and then socks, like in the evening when watching tv before bed. I don't think it really matters what kind of lotion though.
I"m the same way, kicking of my shoes in march if I can. I use a pumus stone after a shower, and lotion before bed makes a huge difference.
Good luck, A.

I hear ya about shoes. I keep a pair of flip flops in my car so I can take my shoes off as soon as I get in the car! I have used the Pediegg and it is pretty good. Is there a reason you dont use a moisturizer? Once you get the callous under control I would highly recommend using one. Can you stand socks at night? Or even half the night? Use vaseline (or alphor) on your feet and cover with cotton socks at night, it should help. What about trying to get a pedicure...those usually cost about $35.00 and last about a month if you use moisturizer. Good luck!
I love the Arbonne foot cream and oil set, it has been the only thing to ever work for me. Even my nail tech who does my pedicures loves it! I don't even sell the stuff, but I think this is awesome stuff and it only takes about two weeks before you see results!
Soak your feet in epsom salt and warm water then use a pumice stone on the callouses. You can get a pumice stone most anywhere and they are a lot cheaper than going for a pedicure or more expensive options. The stone will last a good long time. Once you have the callouses off your feet to your satisfaction then you can maintain them by using the stone when you're in the shower to avoid having them come back. My Mom used to cut her callouses off with a razor until she found a stone. I swear by it.
Good luck - S.
Hi! Avon has a line called Foot Works and they have some incredible products. I think either the Intensive Callus Cream ($4.99) or the Therapeutic Corn & Callus REmover ($5.99) would work great. Once you get things under control, using the Deep Moisture Cream ($2.99) or Therapeutic Cracked Heel Cream ($4.99) on a daily basis should keep your feet soft and smooth. I use the Deep Moisture Cream each evening after my shower. Sometimes I try to put on a pair of socks to sleep in - but they are always off when I wake up, so I usually don't bother with that!
Combination care is best, soak, slough-scrape, and moisture. If you pick a cream make sure it has UREA as an active ingredient.
You could a series of pedicures and ask them to use the razor. They will actually scrape away the calloused area. Doesnt hurt. Just an idea.
Santa put some really course nail files in my stocking, I started using them to file my dry feet. I file them when they are dry. When finished I lather them with some thick lotion. My sister swears by vaseline and socks to bed.
First go get a pedicure and make sure they use the razor on your feet. Don't sit down until they agree that they will use it - and use it good. Keep it going until you can actually feel your heel. You might have to tip them extra but don't let them stop until you're ready. You can purchase one for yourself and do it after that or get a pedi-egg. That you do when you're feet are dry and it helps a lot for maintenance. I get the callouses too and don't mind it too much until someone sees my heels and it's embarrassing. The callous does protect, but looks yucky. I don't moisturize because that's not the problem. It's the buildup of hard skin that is the problem. After I do the pedi-egg, it's amazing to feel the floor on my heel. Ahhhhhh....:)
I use the ped egg sometimes, but usually use a callous razor. You get them at Sally's or walmart, etc. I don't have any luck with revlon and only use the Tweezerman. this is what a pedicure place will use. I prefer to get professional pedicures, but have cut down on them. Now I only do a pedicure if I have an event.
I also started to wear shoes and socks whenever I can stand it, usually when I am cleaning, doing yard work, etc. But mostly I am barefoot. There is a product called KracKare. I have not used it, but I know that I have a coupon and as soon as I find the product, I will probably try it. I think it is a bandaid type thing.
I second the Origins "Reinventing the Heel" cream. Awesome stuff. Slather it on and cover with cotton socks. Smells great. Works great. I put it on after a shower and walk around in the socks until it's absorbed. Makes a big difference in how my heels look and feel.
I also use Origins sea salt scrub with a clay foot scrubber in the shower once or twice a week. Feels terrific and helps quite a bit. Nothing beats a professional pedicure to get you off to a good start, though. Do that right away if you can and then implement a "maintenance" schedule with some of the great suggestions you've received.
Best of luck with your pretty feet ~ L.
J.; first of all buy a foot file, maybe a metal one, they are cheap under 5 bucks at walmart, any way , after a shower, file on those calluses, sit on side of bed, and just simply file them, after you feel you are done, put some lotion on them, if you cant stand the lotion on them, maybe do it at night just before bedtime, do this after each shower, and you will see great improvements, its a cheap and inexpensive way to get rid of them i know my heels get bad if i let them go, or you can file them in the shower, but hard callouses, may need a bit of time, and you may not have that time in a shower standing , anyway , also draw the attention to your toes, by painting them, you will want to show them off , and enjoy the summer, have fun, D. s
Ped egg from CVS. It really does work. :-)
I highly recommend the Ped-Egg. I love it so much I have purchased it for gifts. Everyone that uses it is amazed at how it works. It is instant results.
Pedegg is great, it took the worst callouses off my feet. I'm like you, prefer no shoes and flipflops in the summer hehe
Hello, I can suggest several Avon Foot Works products, that are excellent and very affordable. The Therapuetic Cracked Heel treatment cream is excellent,as well as the Deep Moisture Cream,Pedi Peel Pads and the list goes on and on. I have some of these products on hand if you are interested,or you can browse my website at www.youravon.com/carolporter.
Good luck!
Hi J.,
You've got tons of great ideas here... just thought I would throw in my 2 cents.
To get things going there are a couple of options. 1) go get a pedicure. 2) Go to CVS (or Walgreens or Meijer) and get Kerasal cream. It's a little pricey...but worth it. It helps slough off dead skill cells. It's GREAT cream.
I get this same problem all the time. I hate wearing shoes in the summer. Love the barefoot thing. When I can't go get a pedicure... I do it for myself. Super simple. Get some epsom salt or even some nice minty foot bath salts, a bucket wide enough to soak your feet in and once the kiddos are in bed sit yourself on the couch and have a soak and watch a girlie movie. :-)
AFTER the soak, use a pumice stone or other foot device. I know the pedi-egg says to not use it after ... but my mom does and she said it works fine. So...experiment.
MOISTURIZE AFTER!!!! I love Origins Rejuvenating the Heel cream. It's thick and wonderful.
Now...here is a tip a pedicurist (not sure what they are actually called) gave me. When I DO it...it DOES work.
Pumice stone and hair conditioner in the shower. At the END of your shower, after your feet are nice and soft, put a little conditioner (cheap stuff works just fine) on the pumice stone and gentle go all over your foot. No need to really dig in there. (this is something you do after all the above stuff once the callouses are softening and not as bad) Then after the shower, a little moisturizer. Do that every day and it will keep your feet nice and smooth. Like I said...when I do it... it works.
Good luck!
You can try soaking your feet using Avon's foot soak and then using a pumice stone (sp) rub over the callus. They also have cream that you can use afterwards.

There is a callous scrapper that you can buy in with the foot files and nail clippers. I use this then use the foot file and my feet look and feel good after.
With 4 kids it hard to get this done but if you got regular pedicures it would help. Or you can file your feet yourself. You donot want to cut the callos off it will make them thicker. you want to file them and the whole foot and put moisturizer on. You can also use a pomus stone in the shower. I use a pedi egg when mine are bad than i file than i moisturize you can also saok them in moisturizer to. Pedicures are awesome plus it helps you relax and have some mommy time even if you do them your self.
Hello J.,,
Have you tried to use a Pumas Stone? It can be used in the shower or tub. You can also soak your feet in warm or hot ( as hot as you can handle it ) water and any type of soap. like Dawn dish soap or your favorite body wash. When your feet are nice and soft from soaking them rub the Pumas Stone on the Callous and it will just sand it off and leave your feet soft. I use one everytime I shower.. It really works. The cost of the Pumas Stone is not real costly either. They are cheaper than haveing your Dr. do it. I hope this will help you.
I don't know what solutions you have tried so far but I would recommend a pedicure if you have the time and can afford it. Ina at Lifespa in Commerce is fantastic - you can call ###-###-#### to book an appointment. I also would recommend Arbonne's RE9 Body Set products. It s a 2 Step system which works wonderfully. I am a consultant and am running a special this month and am selling them at 1/2 price in July and August as a summer special. You will see a difference very quickly. If you aren't pleased, Arbonne offers a $$$ back guarantee. If you are interested, let me know.
Good luck (and my apologies for taking so long to respond.)

Hi J.,
My husband has big callouses as well. He was using sandpaper to use them and it worked for him. He did buy an one of those pedieggs, he said it worked but his was so bad that he is now using a wood shaver, he says it works great since it was really bad. But those pedieggs are only 10.00 and you can get them anywhere, I have used it as well, and it seemed to work and didn't hurt or anything, my kids will use it too, not that they have callouses. But you can get them anywhere, Meijer, Target, Walgreens.
Good Luck:)
I would get some foot lotion and a Pediegg. I have one and it works pretty good at getting the dead skin off and making your feet soft.
Go to the podiatrist. They will soak your feet and remove the callouses. Then, as a prevention, use a good moisturizer on your feet before you go to bed. Also, drinking water helps. Take half your weight and that is how many ounces you should drink daily.
I use Enfuselle Hand and Body Lotion (absorbs really well into the skin) and also the Enfuselle Shower Gel. Both work terrific and there isn't a fragrance.
I am the same way! I just buy those foot files from Avon - the blue one with the pink side and sand away at my feet about once a week. They have another one, and an electric one, but those don't work so don't bother with those ones.
I'm sure you can find foot files in the store too.
