Hello all,

We are taking a trip to the Glenwood Springs area in Colorado next week. My in laws are taking the kids in the RV and my husband and I are flying out to meet them there mid week. We have plans to do some horseback riding into the mountains and also a day of whitewater rafting (kids are 12 and 11). I am wondering what other things there are to do out there as I have never been to Colorado.

We are renting a car and the inlaws are towing their car as well.

Any must see or tips? Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

Love love love the area. My parents have a home near Beaver Creek adn we love the drive to Glenwood Springs. There is an awesome hot springs pool, with very cool slides the kids will love, it's a great place to spend a day. My husband and I always find time to pop into Yampah for spa work, they have vapor caves down below that are like steam rooms, albeit rather stinky. You are also equidistant from big resorts, Aspen to the west and Vail/Beaver Creek to the east. On the way to Beaver we have a wonderful time at 4 Eagle Ranch, which has a BBQ and horse rides and live music (http://4eagleranch.com/). Both Vail and Beaver Creek have a ton of free activities in the summer, from concerts to the Free Fridays at Beaver Creek Park Hyatt with smores and music.

It's lovely, you're in for a treat :)

Love the area. Did you know that is where Doc Holliday died was in the colorado hotel in glenwood springs? There is a really good restraunt named after him and its all set up western style. There is also a really good restraunt named the italian underground. Just walk around the town its great. So many shops and stuff. The mineral springs are awesome for the entire family. once you get here you will have no problems finding things to do :) Have a great time!!!

It's been years since I've been there and I'm sure Glenwood has changed dramatically. I remember having a blast at the hot springs. Definitely check that out. The ski resort may also have a zipline or alpine slide. Lots of fun for the whole family!
Enjoy your vacation! Colorado is a beautiful place to visit.

You HAVE to go to the hot springs. Very cool! There are several different hot springs and sometimes you have to be guests of the hotels or you pay alot, but definitely go! It has been many years since I have been, but it is very beautiful there! I am jealous!

hike hidden lake - it's about 1/2 way through the canyon to the trailhead - it's marked on the interstate. about 3/4 mile each way w/ phenomenal beauty at the end!

take the gondola to the caves. there's amusement park stuff at the top - the slide is super fun. the cave tours are good too.
