My brother is 14 he got circumsied as a child. Things went wrong with it and he had to have it redone. He doesnt understand why he hasnt grown in that general area sense he was younger. My father and I are the only ones around to help him in this situation. My mother is around for this kind of stuff. But my father doesnt know what to do. He asked for some advice. My father seems to think that the doctor cut to much off and it wont grow now. But I dont know how that works. All I can think of to say to him his have him start taking vitamins. I dont know if that would help but it may. But anyways I need some advice. Its making me very upset thinking about this. Hes getting to that age that hes gonna start to be sexual. Then comes down to nasty rumors being thrown around about his situation. We dont have medical. We are trying so hard to get some but what can we do? What could be the cause of this?
If you can help me an tell me more about this situation I would really appreciate it.
I love him and even though we fight I dont wanna see him hurt cause of that.
Thank you so much.

What can I do next?

Did something go really wrong with his circumcision? I don't understand.

Maybe he just hasn't hit puberty yet?

Okay My hubby had this situation when he was about the same age. He has Kalmann's syndrome. It is that he has a hormone def. He needs to be tested for it. If he does have this the other things that you can do on your own to see if it is it.....does he have a sense of smell......does he have a sex drive (I know he is only 14 but the hormonses should be flying) and does he low energy levels. Good luck hard without insurance to ask the doctor's what they think then they could test.

You are nice to be advocating for your brother and being concerned. It sounds like he hasn't grown yet. Don't let people make you feel bad for asking. If there is severe damage beyond what we can understand from having a circumcision redone, than you will need more medical help with it. Try to find a low cost option for a consultation, but as people said, it shouldn't cause him not to grow and it's probably too soon to worry. I agree it's not something he should focus on right now, but I understand it's easy to obsess when you're young. Society dwells on these things for teens in their entertainment etc, it's really sad. This will pass. He will be fine. It seems like if there was true permanent damage, pain and function would be the issue not growth-but get into a good appointment even if it takes a while to pay it off. You'll all feel better.

I don't have any answers for you. I just wanted to say that I think you're a pretty special kid to go out on a limb and look for help for your brother like this. It's not an easy thing to talk about or ask, so kudos to you for looking for answers. I hope someone has some for you and your bro.

I don't have an answer for your specific problem, but as far as insurance is concerned I can tell you that NH has one of the best insurance programs for kids in the country. It's called New Hampshire Healthy Kids, and you can call NH Dept of Health and Human Services for more info at 1-877-464-2447. Or you can check out the website at www.nhhealthykids.com. My daughter has been on this program for 13 years, and it's better than any insurance that I ever had access too.

Your father can apply for Healthy Kids so your brother is covered then he could see a doctor if you are concerned. As long as you have all the info you can go down to the office and be seen the same day and usually you are covered the same day as long as you have all the paperwork needed. You could also check out the Avis Goodwin clinics. They see you on a sliding fee.

He may not have started growing longer as yet. This will come and the skin definitely stretches.

Have him go to a cosmetologist or skin specialist once you have some insurance. It is painful to be circumcised at an older age. Make sure the doctor gives him something to prevent nocternal penile tumesence at night after surgery. Speaking from similar experience!
