I have a ton ( and I mean a ton) of VCR tapes. Winnie the pooh, Veggie Tales, Disney Movies, etc. My question is, where can I donate them? I know some people still have VCRs out there. My son doesn't watch them anymore, and I am looking at finding good homes for them :) Any suggestions??

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

P.S.-Yes, we have some local charities, homeless shelters and organizations. That is a good idea.

Thank you all for your ideas. I didn't even think of a library or craiglist/free cycle!

Our Friends of the Library program takes them. You can donate them to the library and then they sell them for a quarter or two.

I have also seen some at consignment shops lately. Sometimes I wish I had a VCR. My little ones love "older" movies.

Freecycle and craigslist are always options as well.

Freecycle! People like me still have a working VHS player. Or ask a school or daycare center if they want them.

Library - for sure or if not, check out some local churches with children's programs or even women's shelters as many times kids go in with mom.

We have a lending library at school and there's a ton of VHS tapes there to check out. They just sit. :(

Soon dvds will be hard to get rid of.

You may want to post them on Craig's List under free or try Freecycle.

Used bookstores will sometimes take them also and give you store credit.

I have a VCR/DVD player and you can record them to DVD is you wanted to save them. Then give the VHS one away. I've done that with many of our old tapes. That is if you wanted a copy of them still. I've recorded some off for the grandchildren on DVD too so they can use them. Just a thought and don't know if you can still find a combo player/recorder out there. Mine is only about 4 years old.

Try donating to a local church. I know our homeless shelter for women/children in Houston takes VHS tapes. Do you have something similar in your area?
