Does anyone have a recommendation for a bug spray with Deet that is safe for toddlers? My two boys (3.5 and 1.5) have mosquitoe bites all over them (especially on their faces).

What can I do next?

Hi, we use Buzz Away. It is all natural and is Deet free. I think it works better than Off. My children have not gotten any mosquito bites. We even used it in the woods and we were bite free. It can be found at Whole Foods, Organica, or maybe other regular stores, Target, etc., but I'm not sure.

I also have the wipes made by OFF!. I have the deep woods ones. They come in individually wrapped packages kind of like Wet Ones. My kids (daughter mostly) got bitten pretty badly right before we bought them. Mosquitoes are ridiculous this year!

You can use witch hazel on their bites to help soothe and relieve the itching. California Baby makes DEET free sunscreen with mosquito replenent in it. Mosquitos are attracted to sugar and things that smell sweet! (Aren't all kids full of sugar and sweetness? :)

We just spent a week in northern Michigan where the bugs were FIERCE. Every cousin and my kids looked like they had chicken pox on their legs. It's a really bad year up there. And we used bug spray religiously.

Based on our reluctant scientific testing with our own bodies :-) and trying multiple products with DEET, including sprays and lotions, I can report that the classic Deep Woods Off was the best. Spray, because then you can get it on clothes, although the wipes are great for less buggy environments.

Also, those foggers they sell for the yard really do reduce the bugs a lot (we were finally driven to it at our family outdoors get-together). If you're going to be in the woods or up north somewhere, bring long pants and lightweight long-sleeved shirts.

I use the wipes with bug repellent in them on my kids- got them at the grocery store. It is easy to use and keeps the bugs away. They come in little pouches-easy to carry as well.
