What are some tricks you use to get your hair to grow quickly? Massage the scalp, eat a certain food? I got a bad hair cut (layers are way too short) and I want it to grow out as soon as possible! I am not sure anything will help, but I will make myself feel better doing something! lol

What can I do next?

I lost my hair due to chemotherapy and I am in the process of trying to grow it back. Someone suggested Biotin supplements, so I am giving that a shot. I don't know if it's actually working or not because I have no idea how long it would take to grow back without them, but I do seem to have a bit more every day, so I feel like it's working. It only cost about $2 for 100 pills at Target, so how can you go wrong with trying it out?

I've had some good results with taking a daily supplement of these:
1 biotin
1 tablespoon of black-strap molasses
(it has iron & B vitamins in it, which supposedly help hair growth)
1 tablespoon of Diatomaceous earth "food grade" (mix it in juice or water)
(be sure to buy the "food grade" version, and not the regular garden-and-pool kind.)
1 Silica (Horsetail) supplement
My hair had thinned something awful when my thyroid medication was in short supply. My medication situation was resolved, but my hair looked miserable. When I started taking the above, it really seemed to help my hair grow back in a bit faster. My thin miserable pony tail, thickened up fairly quickly and my hair is almost back to where it was before my trouble started up.

It grows. You can't change the rate. You could consult with another stylist as to how the cut could be modified, or ow long long you will have to wait.

My hair and nails grow faster when I take prenatal vitamins, and since I seem to be mostly pregnant or nursing I just keep taking them in between as well. :) (Stinks for me since I like my hair very short and should probably get it cut every four to six weeks to keep it short, but I never feel I can afford to. I wish it grew more slowly.)

My brother was just showing me the vitamins that he takes and one of them is K2. It promotes bone health. He said that it is making his fingernails stronger. So that sometimes goes hand and hand. But quick fixes, I agree with others, cute hat, headbands, etc.... hats are so in.

There is not a way to make hair grow faster. It grows an average of 1/2" a month. You could go to another stylist and get some suggestions and even a new trim until it grows out to what you like. You could try hair clips and bands, too, to disguise short layers. Good luck!

I think you just have to embrace the cut...find cute hair clippies, hair bands, head bands, a scarf, a hat...Sometimes going to a different stylist and seeing if they can make it something you are more comfortable with...I was Just at the hair salon yesterday with my son and the woman before him wanted Shoulder length hair and the woman cut it to her chin length, more of a bob! The stylist Literally said, it "looked" shoulder length when you were sitting down! Unreal....I have always been really laid back about hair, it will grow...if you got a bad cut and don't trust the stylist to cut it again you can always talk to the manager. I wish you lots of luck.

Like Valerie B, I also lost most of my hair to chemotherapy, and there is no magic answer to making it grow back quicker. Almost 2 years after chemo, my hair is almost to where it was before my diagnosis. My hair started regrowing before treatment ended around Thanksgiving, 2008.

Ask your stylist if they know of anything that will help......or maybe not if they're the ones who cut it short to begin with.

Otherwise, time and a lot of patience will help tremendously. Never in a million years would I have cut my hair really short. I LOVED it - I just wanted it to be my decision to do it, not chemo's.

drink tons of water - it will make your hair grow faster. also i know you said the layers are super short, but try one of those small round brushes with the metal centers. maybe you can roll some of your layers around that and fluff them up?
