I have heard that they are allegedly good for appetite suppression but I have never met anyone who has had a good outcome with them. Plus, there have not been any long term Acai Berry studies. There could be long-term health side effects that are not known at this time.
Losing weight and staying in shape does not have to be a chore. Changing your diet to include 5 nutritious meals a day will do wonders for you. I lost 55 lbs and 8 inches off of my waist by exercising and eating better. I know it...you have heard that before and maybe it hasn't worked for you in the past. Trust me...it works! Make a committment to eating better and exercising at least 30 mins a day 4-5 a week and the weight will just drop off of you. AND there is no side-effects to this solution.
I eat a fiber one bar every morning and snacking on apples and walnuts/almonds between lunch and dinner. I was never hungry and did not obsess over what I was going to eat for lunch or dinner. Stay away from fast food and fried products. They are not good for you and just add poundage.
In terms of exercise, I have some resistance bands as well as free weights that I use for strength training. I also play Dance Dance Revolution with my boys to get my cardio in. I hate to run on a treadmill...so boring. I love music and dancing. Stick with what motivates you and you will always find time to do it.
I am now participating in a Fitness Boot Camp in Round Rock. You can burn up to 1000 calories in an hour in this type of setting. Plus, the music is great :).
Don't waste your money on pills and fad diets. You will be more healthy in the long run if you treat your body like a machine and feed it right and fine-tune it through exercise.
