8 Month Old Crazy Nap Schedule

I have been reading other posts about sleeping through the night and a few on napping and have learned a few things. But, I would like to ask about my eight month old daughter's situation specifically. First off, she does not sleep through the night consistently. She wakes every four to six hours, which I have decided is fine with us. I tried the cry it out method putting her down to bed once, and it wasn't pretty for any of us. So, that is not an option for me. I have been reading Elizabeth Pantley's, No-Cry Sleep Solution and realize that she is not sleeping nearly enough during the day (which effects nighttime and vice versa). She naps three to four times a day, once around 8:30am, again around mid-day and then around 5:00pm. But, she only sleeps around 30 minutes each time. Ocassionally she will sleep for an hour if she is held or in a carrier (or car or stroller). At night she needs the bottle, during the day I can walk her around or try the afore mentioned methods. Is anyone else going through this and what are you doing?

What can I do next?

I have 2 sons. They are 27 and 34. i found that when my boys went through the same thing I had to gradually get them used to falling asleep without the holding or carrying. I would put them down and stay with them so they knew I was there and let them fall asleep in their bed. Yopur child is used to being constantly rocked to sleep and whem motion is not felt the baby wakes up. How often are you feeding your baby at noght? Maybe she is not getting fed enough and wakesin the middle of the night hungry?
Anyway, I hope this helps.

Hi I have a 7 1/2 month old lil girl and she is on a similar pattern right now. I notice that when she gets a longer nap during the day she sleeps more through the evening. I just try to make sure she has at least 2 solid naps and that seems to help.

My son is now 19 months old, and has had issues with 'good sleeping' since he was 13 months old. What used to work for me, after reading all the books and trying to figure out what to do, was picking two times during the day to assign as nap time. It worked fairly well for a while. Putting him down in a room with noise or where I was doing things so if he woke up he could hear or see me. But, of course that doesn't always mean they will stay good sleepers...as I have learned now.

Hi, my name is S. and I live in Canyon country area...Your baby's sleeping methods will change, just some baby's are different, my kids are big now, my youngest is 12 yeas old, and I went thru that with all of them, so it's ok, soon your baby will let you sleep. Does the father take turns helping you with the baby?? It sounds like your doing everything correct, baby's timing comes natural, it's not always on our timing, like we want...Have your tried some music...S.
