My son fell last night and there was blood everywhere for a few minutes, and I wasnt sure if it was his lip or in his mouth that was bleeding. . It happened right before bathtime and he went to bed about 20min after it happened. We gave him some tylenol before bed to help with the pain. He woke up this morning with a giant top lip and you can see where it looks like he bit into his lip. Is there anything I can do for him besides some tylenol? I tried giving him a cold teething ring but that lasted all of 5minutes before he wanted something else

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks so much. I will try a popsicle for sure... It does look ugly but I somehow think this is just the first of many many falls to come

The popsicles are a good idea. There's really not much you can do for injuries like that. DD did something similar & her lip was better in about a week or so. If he went to sleep normally, then it's probably not hurting him & just looks bad. He'll be fine!

He'll be okay. Popsicles are nice, just be sure they're not "all fruit" or it'll sting. Be sure to check inside his mouth to be sure he didn't bite through! Mouths heal fast though.

You can put some teething baby Orajel on his lip, it will help numb any pain. You could give him a Popsicle to suck on. My kids bust their lips all the time! http://www.orajel.com/baby-oral-care/teething-pain-relief...

Give hima popsickle to cut down on the swelling it wont be as noticable in a couple of days. My youngest just feel 2 weeks ago and did the same thing...flip flops are the worst, she always falls in those.

I agree with the prior posts, but they say ice for the first 24 hrs. After that, you just need to deal with it a bit.

Yes, it looks ugly, but he'll be fine.

BTW - my son chipped his front tooth and we don't even know how! He's taken so many falls we've lost count. And he continues to run full speed and leap face first everywhere. I think it's just a matter of time before he gets stitches! Uggh.

just some ice or something cold to help the swelling go down, that's all you can really do with that.

Popsicles!! Every busted lip among my kiddos (and there have been many) has been doctored with a popsicle. The cold helps the injury, and the sweet helps the mood. Good luck!
