Hi Moms! I'm expecting my second in August. I still need to have two hands free to keep track of my 2 1/2 year old so I'm considering purchasing a Snugli, Baby Bjorn, etc. type carrier. Does anyone have any experience good or bad with these type of carriers. They are expensive and I would hate to purchase one and then not like or use it. Thanks for any insight!

My daughter will be 18 mos old when baby #2 arrives in June...what "must haves" do I need for 2 little kids? We will probably use a bassinet because I'm not sure my little girl will be ready to be out of the crib. Do I need a double stroller? Any lifesaving products I need to pick up before I go through the chaos of going from 1 to 2?

Wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a monitor that will pick up frequency in my baby's room (2 floors down)!! My daughter is 3 1/2 months old and has been sharing our bedroom- the time has come for her to sleep in her own room....even though I hate the thought! the BabyCall monitor I purchased does not work for this distance.

Hello! My 4 yr old daughter starts school soon and we need to buy an extra booster seat so my husband can take her to school on some days. I was wondering what kind did you get and what you liked about it? I prefer something with the back and my husband said he wants the one that is backless. My daughter is tall and she is barely 40 lbs.

My little , okay not so little guy is almost 6 months old and already 20 pounds (YES, 20 pounds, and YES I know he's a big guy, I don't think I've ever left the house w/o everyone telling me how huge he is-But that's a whole other issue I'm having)
Any who, he is off the charts in his length and obviously the infant car seat is not going to work for us much longer, He still will need to be rear faced for 6 more months and I want him to be the most comfortable and SAFE...
I've googled, searched mamasource and gotten all kinds of ideas, but I want to reach out to other mammas who maybe have had this issue.

My son is 6 months old and already over 20 lbs and therefore outgrowing his 1st car seat/carrier. So I'm starting to look into getting him a new car seat. I know he needs to be rear facing for another 6 months, but how do I choose what kind of car seat to buy? I've seen some that are a 3 in 1 model that wouild likely last the rest of his car seet/booster days. The one I found like that is quite expensive though . . . is it worth it? Does anyone have any recommendations?

Hi Mamas! I need a couple cloth diapers for my 2 yr old. She's totally potty trained during the day, but floods her panties @ night. I thought it was a short term issue, but she's been doing this for about 2 months now. I tried doing the pull-ups thing @ night, but she calls them diapers, and wets them when I put her in them because they "feel" like diapers. Also, I like the cost saving of just using some washables instead of forking out 17-20 dollars for a bag of pull-ups. Anywho, I'm looking into the Bum-Genious 3.0 or Fuzzy Bunz, but my question is this....where can I buy these diapers in a store? I live in Ft. Worth, and need these a.s.a.p. Is there ANY store/boutique that sells quality cloth diapers? I tried making my own with the pre-folds (Gerber) that you can buy anywhere, and they just don't do the job. Please help! I'm tired of washing sheets everyday!!

My 7 month old son is getting close to outgrowing his infant car seat, so we're trying to decide on a convertible one. He's about 16 lbs. and 27 inches long now. I have some arthritis in my hands and wrists, so some of the styles with squeeze type chest buckle and tough red button are really hard for me to operate (preferably not super pricey like Britax as well). I want my little guy safe, yet also have something I can operate without too much trouble. I have a 4 door Chevy Cavalier it will be going into, so not a huge vehicle. Any recommendations would be helpful.

My daughter is 21 months old and we've been buy Pampers since she was a newborn. Well they are getting expensive because she's wearing size 5 and you don't get as many in a box. I'm wondering if there is a store brand that is similar to Pampers. Like Target or Wal-mart brand (they are cheaper). I'm afraid to try them and then get stuck with a bunch of diapers that we don't like. She had horrible diaper rash as a newborn and Pampers were the only brand that didn't irritate (we tried Huggies & Luvs). Now I'm just afraid to try anything else. Thanks for your help.

My husband and I are big boaters and spend a lot of time on the water in the summer. We are also due with our first child in mid-May and I am starting to research Life Jackets for Infants. I have found a limited quantity of life jackets that appear to be truely made for infants (0-30 lbs) and that are Coast Guard approved, and very safe, etc. My question is how young as anyone every taken a baby on a boat? It must be ok to take them out at a young age if they make life jackets for 0-30 pounds, right? And I have already read many articles on keeping thier skin covered, avoiding extremely hot days, testing out SPF 50 a few days proior, testing out the life jacket itself a prior to the trip, etc. And when I say boating, I am referring to a calm, leisurely ride...NOT racing around the lake or trying to pull any skiiers or tubers, as I am a very protective and cautious person by nature. So, I have all the other precautions down, I am just wondering if anyone else has ever taken a baby out on a boat, and how young was the child at the time? Or am I crazy to even think that we will be able to enjoy this particular past time this year?

My husband, 8 month-old son and I just moved here from Florida, and are preparing ourselves for the considerably colder winter weather by purchasing boots, hats, mittens, etc for ourselves and our son. We are having trouble with finding our son some shoes - the ones I currently have don't stay on very well, and even when they do they don't keep his feet warm, even with a layer of socks on as well. This and it's not even that cold yet! I'd like to find shoes that will keep his footsies warm as it gets colder, but won't fall off every 3 minutes (or be easily pulled off). Someone recommended Robeeze boots - but before I spend $40 on shoes that will only fit for a couple months before being replaced with another expensive pair, I wonder if anyone knows of any less expensive options... I saw some boots at Walmart for $15 (about as high as I'd like to go, in view of the fact that I'll probably be buying another larger pair in a couple months) but I couldn't get them on his feet - no side zipper or flap or anything.

I have a petite 17 mth old who weighs about 22lbs and a son who just turned 3 this month. I am looking for some kind of training pants that are not made of diaper material. I want my toddler to feel uncomfortably wet, but not mess up the carpet or furniture. I really can't take any chances of much leaking because we are currently staying with realtives until we can find our own place. The pull-ups don't seem to be working at all. Here is what has been happening:
My almost 3 year old could be potty trained if she chose to be. She does great with going pee and poo on the toilet - BUT ONLY IF WE TELL HER TO. We usually have to fight her a bit to get her to go to the toilet, but once she does, she usually performs. The problem is that she really seems to prefer a diaper or training pants. It does not bother her at all to pee in her pull-ups. She could care less. She will never tell us when she has to pee, and denies that she has to go when we ask her. She will sometimes tell us when she has to poo, but could be just as likely to hide out and poo in her pull-ups. She wants to be changed immediately if she has a poo diaper, but the icky feeling is not deterring her much. When I let her wear big girl panties, that doesn't really stp her from pooing either. She gets lots of praise when she goes on the toilet, but she still fights us when we ask her to go. She does not want to be bothered or dtop what she is doing to go to the bathrrom. So I need some underpants designed to keep her "aware" of her potty and poo. Those wet strips in pull-ups don't help at all.
Please help!

Hi Mamas! My 11.5 month old son is in a Britax cars seat that is still facing backwards. At his nine month appointment he was 30 inches long and weighed 22 lbs. He has gotten longer and heavier since then and is just not fitting in the car seat with it is the rear-facing position. His legs are so long and seems tall for his age. He is all cramped up and uncomfortable. He fusses/cries now in his seat during every ride and even cries when he sees that he has to go in the seat. Is it ok to turn him around yet? My son is 17 months old and we're starting to think about potty training. I know its early, so I stress STARTING here. He is fascinated with the toilet and likes to follow my husband and I to the bathroom and "help" by flushing for us. So I'm thinking this might be a good time to introduce a potty chair. My daughter and her husband are in the process of doing foster to adopt. They have applied to accept a child 2 or under, which means they could get a child from newborn up to 2 years old. The agency requires that they have a bed ready for the child before the final inspection. So she is hoping to get a crib that converts to a toddler bed so that they can be ready for either. They already have 2 children, a girl 7 and a boy 4. They are on a limited budget so I am looking for a really inexpensive one or a free one. Last year I got my son a surfer type water shirt that was rated 50 SPF. I can't find any this year. My son has an allergy to sunblock and the only block he can wear isn't water proof so I really need to find one of these shirts to make it easier for him to play in the water this summer. I got a "rash guard" shirt at Children's Place that is made to wear in the water, but it doesn't say it has an SPF so I am guessing it won't help any more than a regular shirt. My 2 1/2 year old is ready to join us at the table and we need a booster chair for him. We don't need to have a tray on it. Also, I have wooden chairs, so it can't scratch or stick and remove the finish.
Thanks!

Hello, My name is S. and my daughter is 16 months old. She has a lot of teeth now and I would like to get her less dependant on her pasifier. She is very attached to it. Is there anyone who has advise about easing babies off pasifiers? Any advise would be great. Thanks.

Both of my sons were fortunate enough to be given handmade newborn size blankets when they were born. The blankets are beautiful crotched items, and now that they are older, I don't know what to do with them. I don't want them to be just laying out in their rooms for fear they will get destroyed. But, I don't want to just pack them away in the basement either because they are special. So, I was wondering if any of you have any creative ideas of what to do with these handmade blankets that my children have outgrown. Thanks!

Our baby is due the end of July. We live in just under 500sq ft, a normal one bedroom in Manhattan. The only thing we have in the apartment for the baby is the crib, and a we'll be getting a playpen (probably Graco). Other than that, we're not prepurchasing until we have need--due to limited space.
Recently I've been taking my lunch breaks browsing Byebyebaby and am overwhelmed by the products. As someone who's been working in the advertising world, I'm very skeptical about packaging and promotions.
There's so much stuff out there, and due to limited space, I'd like to get some necessities, but don't know what's necessary. :(
If you can tell me the ONE thing that you couldn't do without, and why, I'd really appreciate it. Please remember it's for city living, and we don't have the space a suburb or outer borough dwelling affords.
Thanks so much!
*edit-We're also going to purchase a breast pump and accessories (starts with an 'M' forget the brand name at the moment)

My third child is almost ready to get out of her carrier. We've had a roundabout and my son is in a marathon. We've loved all of our Britax's, but wonder if the decathlon is worth the extra money. Any advice is appreciated.

I'm sorry to be posting yet another car seat question on here, but I've researched and guess I still don't understand. At what age, weight, height do they switch to a booster-type seat? I know it is best to keep them in a 5-pt. harness "forever" and I plan to do so. We currently have the Britax Boulevard, and I'm wondering at what point I will need a booster. Is there a seat that we can use now (in our other car) that will ultimately be the "final" seat my son will need? He is 18 mo., 26 lbs., and 33" tall. Thank you!!!

Just need to know at what weight you can turn the baby's carseat facing forward? My son is afraid of driving at night, and I think it's because he can't see anything or us. Thanks!

Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone knows where you can by a sling carrier. I have a regular front carrier, but I am thinking that my little one would prefer a sling type around the house. Also, if you have one, do you like it?

I am looking into purchasing a quality baby jogger to get back into running. Before my 10 week old son was born, I was up to 30+ miles a week and running in several marathons or half marathons. I am really missing my long weekend runs....I hear great things about both the BOB running strollers & the official Baby Joggers, but if I am going to spend $300+ I want to make sure I get the jogger that works best for me. Does anyone know about them to compare the two? His car seat would be compatible for either one. Thanks!!
