I am now on my 3rd pack of Yaz and finishing up the 3rd week of this pack. I have been experiencing break through bleeding every since I got my period with his pack of pills. It is not spotting and is at times as heavy as my normal periods are. The first pack of Yaz I did not have a period at all and the 2nd pack I had a pretty light period that lasted about 3 days. I know there is an adjustment period whenever you change pills but I was expecting it to be getting better by now not worse. I called my OBGYN and she said this was fine and could go on for up to 6 months as my body adjusts. My question is have any of you experienced this with Yaz and if so once the 6 months was up did things with your cycles return to normal? I really don't want to deal with this for 6 months and then have it continue only to have to change pills again. I have never had this kind of break through bleeding with any PC bills before. Also, I have not missed any pills.

BTW they had to change me from Ortho Tri-Cyclene b/c my body was not tolerating the tiered pills anymore and she said I needed one constant hormone amount until the sugar pills. Yaz has corrected all of the bad PMS symptoms I was having with my other pills.

Thanks in advance for your help!!

I took YAZ for about 2 years. I never had breakthrough bleeding but it did throw my schedule off. I wouldn't have a period until I completed the whole pack. I just assumed this was normal since it stayed on that schedule. I did have heavier bleeding on YAZ than previous BC pills.

I was on Yaz for about 7 or 8 months. I had the same problem as you. I was constantly spotting and for me I never really had an actual period. So frustrating. My doctor also told me this has been reported before and recommended Yasmine to me (made by the same company that makes Yaz). This was supposed to be a higher dose and was supposed to regulate my period. Prior to Yaz I had taken Ortho Trycycline (sp?) and NEVER had a problem. I only switched to Yaz after having my second child thinking it would be great. Unfortunately for me not so. I ended up getting the Mirena instead. I LOVE it! I have had it for about a month now and finally since having my second child I feel like my body is back to normal again!

I haven't been on YAZ before, but I used to experience breakthrough bleeding anytime I didn't take my pill RIGHT on time. If I was late by even a few hours, I would sometimes start my period and continue through until I was SUPPOSED to be on it! Then it would go away when I started the next pack! That is why I switched to NuvaRing! I would wait the 6 months your OB talked about, and make sure you are taking it at the same time everyday. If you forget alot or its still not getting any better, ask the OB about NuvaRing!

YES! The same thing happened to me...it was like I had two periods a month. ANNOYING! I am glad to hear it's not just me. It didn't stop after 7 months, and I gave my body time to adjust or whatever. But, since it never changed, I just stopped taking Yaz. Yuck.
