Hey K.. I was on Yaz for about a year. I loved it. I was way less moody than any other pill I had ever been on. I didn't have any side effects. On other pills I had gained weight, but I didn't with Yaz. I wasn't bitchy at all. My husband even noticed a difference. I don't use it anymore, not for side effects reasons...my husband got a vasectomy. So clearly there is no need. I would recommend this a hundred times. I guess some people have side effects, but this pill is supposed to be the one with the least ammount. Goos Luck. I hope you like it as much as I did.

Hi K.!
I was on Yaz for just over 3 weeks and had a horrible experience. I was irritable, very moody, extremely bloated, and the worst was the severe morning sickness symptoms. I was out at the mall feeling sick to my stomach all day and got the cold sweats. I felt like I was going to throw up and was light-headed. That was the last day that I ever took Yaz. When I see the commercials for it I laugh because everything it promises to get rid of, I had! Before I saw my ob/gyn about the symptoms I did some research online and found a site with comments from many women who had the same symptoms as I had. It just must affect different women differently. Especially if you've had no problems with the pill in the past you could have no problems with it at all. I guess you just need to give it a try. Good luck!

I took it for one month but stopped because I was terribly nauseous. It was so bad that I wasn't willing to keep trying the medication.

It took a while for me to adjust to Yaz, but i like it better than other pills. I've tried quite a few other bc pills and even though i'm still moody on Yaz, the side-effects are small in comparison to the other ones.

I love Yaz when I was on it for about 6 months. My PMS went out the window and I stopped having a period about 3 months after I started taking it! Unfortunately, my insurance doesn't cover BC, so I had to stop taking them. But, when I do get back on BC...I'm definately going to go back to those!! Good luck!!

K., sorry this is so late. I haven't taken Yaz although I'm considering it; I am currently on depo provera which has been fantastic for me, but it's a longer term birth control - you get a shot once every three months. (Unfortunately, and stupidly, although my insurance covers other bc, it doesn't cover this... but it's about $60 for a 3-month shot.)I had a little weight gain on it but my weight seems to have stabilized again, and no pms for me at all, which I love. And barely a period. Plus you can be on depo and breastfeed. I believe depo is progesterone-based, whereas some pills have estrogen as well. I didn't do as well on the regular pill with estrogen, but depo has been awesome - like I don't want to get off of it; I'm a totally different person!

Hi K.! I have been on Yaz for almost a year now. The only noticable side effects that I have are break through bleeding during the middle of the month and I only have a period every other month.

Yaz is actually approved by the FDA to treat PMS (PMDD) symptoms, improve cramping and bloating, and lighten your period. I don't have personal experience with it, but those are the claims the company makes and what the FDA has said it does. By the way it is the only pill approved for those things. Good luck.

Hi K.,
I have to say that I couldn't stand Yaz. It didn't make me moody but I got a lot of headaches and I was getting 2 periods a month....full blown. Once I had talked to my other mom friends, they ALL said the same thing. The funny thing.....I got pregnant on it! It just didn't work for me but it obviously works for others.
Good luck!
K. :~)

Hi K.,

Yaz did not work for me at all, very moody, headaches, sickness and negatively affected intercourse as well so I stopped taking it after 3 months. However it seems to vary woman to woman as you can read in previous responses. For some women is just a matter of adjusting the body to the hormone combinations, which may take a few months (maybe more than 3?). Anyway, talk to your Gyn if it works for you it should be pretty rewarding since it contains less dosage of hormone than most contraceptives and seems to solves many PMS problems.

Good Luck!

I had trouble with a lot of other pills. I was moody, crabby, bloated and got migraines.
I was on Yasmin for 3 years pre-baby and did great on that. When I went off the mini-pill when I stopped breastfeeding and I talked to my doctor about going back on Yasmin and he suggested trying Yaz.
I've been on it for 3 months now and I am feeling great. None of the yucky side effects that I had with previous pills, and my period is only 2 days long.

I didn't get mood swings until I got *off* of Yaz.....I felt wonderful while I was on it! I didn't realize how much it controlled my PMS (maybe PMDD?) symptoms. No weight gain for me, either. I had only tried one other pill (can't remember the name, but it's one of the most popular), and it didn't work at all...didn't regulate my periods, and I was even more bitchy and moody than before. I'd definitely recommend Yaz!
