Not trying to start a fight here, honestly..
I have seen a few deleted posts lately w/ some sharp tongued responses before AND after the question was 'erased' and I kind of chuckled at thinking that I could be almost positivie a men focused site wouldn't be like that.
Agree? Men seem to be a lot less argumentative then us women. I know I can be just as guilty.
It's just funny in a way. Guys don't want to go for the jugular and tear each other up, is it our wiring that brings that out in some of us? Or most of us from time to time?
What is their secret? Dude....lets go grab a beer and chill :)
Totally meant to be light hearted BTW!

What can I do next?

That's not true.
Guys can be just as cut throat as women.
Neither tends to do it when the opposite sex is watching.
Being together in more or less equal numbers tends to bring out a bit more civilized behavior in both sexes.

Um...have you ever read the general comments of any major newspaper? Most of the vitriolic, nasty commenters on many news sites are men (or at least profile themselves that way). Have you ever read a forum for something that's a male-dominated interest, like cars or computers? I have to browse tech forums every now and again for answers to programming issues that are over my head and most of the content is from guys and they're pretty brutal and ruthless with each other. Funny, but ruthless.

I can't agree with you... This from my husband, who reads a lot of sports forums:

"I find that the posters on the sports forums can be even more direct and harsh than you are probably used to on this forum. They are insulting, demeaning and bigoted and just about everything negative that you could possibly think. They get into it with each other-- back and forth. They accuse each other of being trolls, there are words which are inappropriate to use which are disguised (spaces, periods, asterixes) to get by the censors.... so if you really want your eyes opened, go onto ESPN.com and follow a discussion through."

I've seen it myself. Quite the crazy crowd.

In short, no one is grabbing a beer and chilling out. :) But I think there's a G&T in my future.

If you think men are a lot less argumentative than women you have clearly never listened to AM talk radio, especially the news and sports shows. My God those men are like the women on The View!!! Fight, argue, and GOSSIP, barely giving each other a chance to get a word in edgewise. Same thing with all the sports pre game and post game shows, they are awful. But my husband loves it.
And the gym, on the basketball court? And the golf course, especially in the bar after a round? Oh brother don't get me started.
You just need to go where the men are, and you will realize they are exactly like us, maybe even worse.
Of course he (my husband) thinks sites like THIS are a big waste of time so go figure. He doesn't give two hoots about parenting issues. As long as his kids are clean and fed and not being abused he's happy.

Men don't duke it out about parenting stuff. It's about sports or politics/religion. Then they'd start talking about women and sex.

No - not interested in seeing THAT banter...

Ha! There would be very little banter, some crude humor, maybe a question on what size drill bit or modem to buy. If it were politicos they would call each other names and then go get a coke.
I love the way they fight. And get over it. It's the one thing my boys have taught me.

ppppfffftttttt.
a men's site wouldn't have the degree of in-depth soul searching and psychological navel-gazing either. it would be mostly about sports, engines, boobs and beer.
i love men, but there are only a few i can go to for the kinds of things we explore here.

There's men here.

I think that fundamentally men and women are different. Women are more likely to fight with words and men with fists. Neither is entirely superior to the other.

Pfft.. I guess you may not have seen a sports forum such as fantasy football... Believe me, when a guy thinks he or his team has been wronged and or doesn't get a trade in that they think should have happened, I have seen all hell break loose.. It can get ugly... and yes, they do go for the jugular..

You think men are LESS argumentative than women? Then you've never been on Yahoo Answers or any other community where men congregate. Some can be so competitive with discussions and arguments that unless their opponents come out of it crying, they haven't won their side of the argument. Some will even argue with those that agree with them and try to make THEM cry. ;-)

I'm on a couple of bulletin boards for competitive soccer in our area. The dads are WAY more argumentative, confrontational, judgemental, and downright catty then any of the women I see on here.

I think that women read into things more than men do, but I also think that women are better at reading social cues and therefore see intended offense when a man might not. What I have seen also is that men get over things a lot faster, in general. But, listen. If you have ever listened to some grown men playing video games together... or read a sports forum, like someone else mentioned, you will know that men can dish out the sharp responses like no other! Yikes, I have heard some absolutely horrible "banter" , a lot of it not light-hearted in the least.
