Who Do You Upload Your Digital Pictures Too?

I have been using Yahoo to upload our digital pictures to so family can view and or order prints. We ordered some from Yahoo and I was not impressed with the quality. I am wondering who you use, does it charge to upload the pics, and if you have been pleased with the prints ordered from their site? Thanks so much for your recommendations.

So What Happened?

Well, I truly appreciate your help. We are using shutterfly for now due to the recommendations. SO far it has been easy and I love some of the features all ready. Thanks so much. These type of things overwhelm me at times with all the options out there.

I use ofoto.com. You can save a BUNCH of albums to share, order prints, make photo calenders, etc. You can also edit the photos. The service is free but you pay if you order a print. Its like 20 cents a print I think.

We use Snapfish. It doesn't cost anything to join or to upload prints. We like it because we can order prints and pick them up from the Walgreens of our choice within an hour if we need them in a hurry.

Hi K. - We also have family spread across the US, so we use www.babysites.com. It's a free site and it allows you to create a website for your kids. It has a place to track their growth, write journal entries and add different photo ablums. I update it once a month so that family can see her progress in each of the albums, hear about what's going on with us and see her growth. They are able to order pictures from the site and it links them over to shutterfly to order pictures. We love it and our family can't get enough!!! You can go to babysites.com and View a Demo so you see what it looks like. It's really easy to do. Good luck!

We use Costco (www.costcophotocenter.com) because we usually have so many to print. It's free to upload, keep an album, share that album with friends and family, etc. If you are familiar with Snapfish, it's the same format. You can pick up at the warehouse (if you're a member) or have them shipped. With Costco printing it has been hit or miss on the quality. We've also used Snapfish for our holiday greeting cards and had them 'pick-up' printed at Walgreens -- these turned out great.

I've heard that Wal-Mart is awful but haven't tried them myself.

We use Kodakgallery.com I JUST sent an order at the end of this week so they would arrive at grandma's in the coming week. I don't know about the quality.

In the past I have used Walmart for my own prints. While the quality is good, it always seems to be an ordeal for the store personnel to find my pre-paid uploaded photos.

My sister-in-law uses Costco. I haven't tried them yet.

I saw $0.19 at Walgreens on Main/McDermott? and may try a few there to see how they work out.

I personally was disappointed with the quality from Wal-Mart-- that may have been my local store though. I liked Costco-- resonable price, but they print my last name on the photos. (This is a problem for me as my girls are adopted and I send tons of pics to the birthfamilies, who are not supposed to know our last name.) I LOVE Walgreens! It does not cost anything to upload the pictures. The cost less than if you go to the store. You are able ot organize photos into albums, and can easily share albums or just single photos to people anywhere by inviting them to see your pictures. They do need to sign in on-line. I like it because there are Walgreens all over the country-- you have a choice of picking up your photos at the Walgreens of your choice or having them shipped directly to you for a shipping fee. Our grandparents love viewing all of the photos on-line, then selecting the ones they wish to purchase and picking them up at their own local Walgreens. You can also create cards, post-cards, calendars, mugs, etc. I love making calendars for the grandparents for Christmas-- not very expensive and they love seeing their granddaughters every day. Hope this helps!

I use shutterfly.com and have been using them for about 2 years now. The pictures come out great plus the paper they use is fujipaper, which last much longer than kodak paper. When you order it tells you what sizes your particular pictures will come out best on. They don't charge for upload. Good luck!

I personally prefer to print my own pictures. I was using the Kodak printer doc. I had two of them and they just could not hold up to the volume of printing I do. I just purchased a HP photosmart printer and I love it. It prints fast, quality pics and all you have to do is insert your photo card from your camera. I have several friends though that use snapfish.com and love it. Hope you find something that works for you :)

I am kinda late in the running of responses, but have to tell you I have only had good experiences with Shutterfly. Their pre-paid plans make it really cheap to send photos and photo gifts to family members as well. Plus, I like their other novelity items (mugs, brag books, ties, personalized greetings cards I always use on my hubbie, note cards, and enlargements etc.) I have about 20 albums from the past 5 years of my life (getting married and having our first child and all the vacations in between) on their site and their site is equipped to allow you to share website (albums) with your family as well -- its lets you send a link dedicated to your own website of photos. Oh, and I have always been very pleased with their quality of work.
Let me kwow if you have any other questions I might be able to help with, Good luck

I use Snapfish, and the pictures are excellent! You can upload albums for free and e-mail them to friends and family. They can order them and print photos themselves. Or you can have them mailed from Snapfish. I usually order mine online and pick them up at Walgreens. (If you have Snapfish mail them, the photos are a different size and cropped a little bit.) Anyway, I've been really happy with it. Just visit snapfish.com to check it out.

If it's pictures you want to share w/family from all over, may I suggest joining "myspace". I have joined and will soon be moving to the DFW area. That a way, people who know my family and kids can look and keep updated on everything going on. It's free to join. You can also keep family informed on what your kids are doing, ie:crawling, walking, talking. etc.

If it's the "physical" pictures you need, why not just go to walmart? You can also download them and have them print them w/out going to the store. Creative memories does it thru their website also.

hopes this helps

I've used both Snapfish.com and Walgreens.com. With both you can upload your pictures and have them sent to you or directly to family members in other cities/states. My mom lives in Colorado and with Walgreens, I have them printed right in her city and picks them up the next time she is in the store. I love it! Good luck.

Hi, K.! I have used Shutterfly for 5 years for all my sharing of photos. Printing, however, I like Costco.com. You can upload photos and have them printed within an hour at your local Costco. I've also uploaded photos and had them printed at another family member's local Costco so that they could pick up quick, cheap prints. It's cheaper AND MUCH QUICKER than mailing them or getting them from Shutterfly or other online service! I also have other people upload the photos I want to my local Coscto, then I can just run and pick them up for cents.

I keep my photos on snapfish.com so they don't take up room on my computer but I haven't ordered through them yet. I get all my photos for my customers through wolfcamera.com and then pick them up at Ritz Camera. I love the quality and the choices that I have through them. You can also get a membership with them for really cheap that gets your prints even cheaper. You can also get prepaid digiprint cards from them that saves you even more money and you dont have to send credit card info over the internet. You can choose gloss or matte finishes, pictures with border or without, etc. I also like them cause I can have the pictures developed at any Wolf or Ritz camera. What I mean is like my family back home in New York and Florida, when I do picks I can choose a location near them and then they pick up the prints in an hour and I dont need to worry about mailing anything to them.

I began printing digital prints at Sam's and was quite pleased with their quality. However, since then I have used Snapfish and Photoworks. Both have great quality processing, matte finish options, and great prices, not to mention how stinkin' easy it is to have your pictures delivered right to your door. I think I paid 9 cents per print last time I ordered from either of them. Both of them also offer deals periodically like free shipping and free prints. I know some folks mentioned Walgreens, and even that you can get your Snapfish prints at Walgreens. I would stay away from Walgreens. My mother is a photographer and I have some photography training, so I notice color quality, etc. in prints. I've tried Walgreens digital printing 2 or 3 times (even different stores) and every time the color has been AWFUL. My pictures have had been too blue or too green. If you put them along side the ones I've had printed elsewhere, the poor quality is obvious.

I have used samsclub.com several times and have been impressed with both the quality and price - particularly when I have had the photos shipped to the store instead of having them printed by the in-store 1-hour photo machines. They do not charge to upload photos, at least on line, though if you want them to display your photos for a long time you can pay a small fee to maintain space on their site. I believe you have to be a member of Sam's Club to use the service. Someone mentioned not uploading photos because someone can "snag them" off the internet. While this is true, and I don't leave photos in the Sam's Club albums long-term, I'm not really too worried about having someone decide to copy a family photo. There is no identifying information (such as address) attached to the public album, and I don't think our family photos look enough different from everyone else's family photos to draw too much interest.
