Hi Moms,
Any recommendations on where to donate gently used baby items in the Plano area? Also, is it acceptable to donate used baby bottles? I have so many and I thought it might be acceptable if I were to purchase packages of new nipples to donate along with them....any thoughts?

There is a teen mom minestry in Allen that needs donations of that kind but I forget the name off hand. I think it is angel something. Also the samaritain inn homeless shelter in mckinney. Grace church in plano helps battered and abused moms and take donations as well. There are actually many places that would love to have the items. I have baby in hand so it is hard to type, but look up shelters or in the back of that Plano magazine we get free (profile?). Yeah for your giving heart!

A few of my friends are having a garage sale in Murphy (right next to Plano) on Sept 27. EVERYTHING they earn from the sale is going to Komen for the Cure. (They are doing the 3 Day, 60-mile walk.) They are taking all sorts of donations for the sale and have been advertising in the local city papers for it. If you are interested, let me know, and I can give you more details. Depending on where you live, someone might be able to come pick it up for you.

If you wanted to make a little money off the items, you could always contact a local MOPS group. Mothers of Pre-Schoolers (MOPS) have consignment sales with the proceeds going to help raise funds for the group. Contact www.mops.org for the closest location to you.

You could always try to see if you can turn it into your local "Kid to Kid" store. ()

As for bottles, I have no clue, personally. HOWEVER! There's this great site -- http://www.freecycle.com. Its a site where people get rid of their stuff, for free, as well as find stuff they need/want.
You just sign up, and then select the one you want to be apart of (in your area), and post, and then someone will email you with a response of request. I love it.
