My 2 yr old is dressing up as a firefighter this year. We already have the costume and boots, but I have been unable to find a yellow firefighter helmet. We have a red one that I got at the 99 cent store, but is doesn't match the costume. I know I could paint it, but I don't think that the paint will stay on well since it's shiny plastic. Does anyone know a place that sells a child-size yellow firefighter helmet? Thanks.
If US Toy does not have, you could also try Party City, Target, or even try your local fire department. My cousin is a North Carolina firefighter, and he brings helmets all the time to family reunions. Just a thought. In addition, there is a costume store downtown Plano, but prepare to pay premium at this store. Good luck. Gee, you're organized, we haven't even begun to think Halloween.
i took my children on a tour of the Van Alstyne fire department and they gave us yellow helmets (plastic) as a gift. YOu could call you local fire department and ask them - plus take your son on tour. They let them sit in the trucks and everything
If all else fails and you have to paint it, Krylon makes a paint that is specifically made for plastic-- so you shouldn't have any trouble with it flaking off. Good luck!
