I just heard report that Gadhafi was richest man in the world. Worth an estimated 200 BILLION dollars.
Does anyone know what will happen to all of this money now that he is no longer alive?
The reporter stated it was all money from the Oil industry. ...Though I am sure there is many more things that contribute.
How does one person obtain that much wealth?? I mean realistically What could one possibly do with 200 billion dollars?...You can not go to college to learn how to obtain billions....Or even take over the world...yet his bank account would state other wise.
I am asking because this is SO shocking.....Not so shocking that one had that much wealth...but more because I have to wonder who that money really Belongs too....and if it will go where it should be.

His assets and holdings are now frozen. He has assets in accounts under many different names and it will be quite a financial "forensic" mess.
Apparently Mr. Gadhafi blurred the line quite a bit between national wealth and personal wealth...
I understand his Libyan holdings have been blocked (sanctioned) for quite a few months...did you know Cuban US holdings are still frozen in the US? President Kennedy froze the U.S.-based assets of the Cuban government and Cuban citizens in 1963.
I'm sure that a lot of it is "blood money". He found out the hard way that you can't take it with you. Why any one person would need that much money is beyond me. It's about control for some I suppose. As far as where it will go, probably not where it should go. It would be nice to see it go to all the families he did wrong. But like I said, I'm sure it won't go where it should. Another tryrant of sorts will take his place.
Umm, well the money belonged to him, and now very likely to his heirs who will go crazy and likely be bankrupt in a years time becaue people that are good with money rarely teach their heirs how t be good with it!
Who wants to bet there will be a big ole wat over it!

My first guess would be that he took it from his people, he was a dictator and they are known for that. I am not sure how it would be distributed now.
The Libyan people own this money. They should track down every last relative of his and rip it out of them by any means necessary. The daughter in law beat and tortured her "servants" who were often imported from other countries. If you read the whole thing on NPR story after story you will know that absolute power corrupts absolutely.

I am only sorry that he did not get the full Mussolini treatment hanging naked and missing some parts in the public square.
If the UN is so worried about how he died they can take it and stuff it for all their pious BS. Where were they the last 40 years as this tyrant killed maimed stole and blew up airplanes, public buildings and the like in other lands.
