Almost anything on Animal Planet, Mythbusters, Little House on the Prarie, today it was part of the I love Lucy marathon.
I have a 10 year old, 7 year old and 3 year old. They're all girls. My 10 year old ends up watching tv shows that the 2 younger ones like. They all like Penguins of Madagascar but other than that, I haven't been able to find shows they can all enjoy. I'd love some suggestions. What are your 10 year olds favorite TV shows?

I have such a hard time with the programming for the older kids! It's always based on the premise that the kid (or a friend) screws up & has to make things right. That drives me nuts.....I'd much rather it be about something uplifting or adventurous! (& honestly, I don't watch sitcoms for this very reason....for me, it goes all the way back to Tim the Toolman - royally screwing up each week & then resolving it. For me, Home Improvement was the death of sitcomville! It's not funny to watch somebody mess up time & time again....)
Moving on! My next comment would be the "mouthiness" of the dialogue in most of the older shows. Your 10y.o. is truly stuck in a no-kids land! Occasionally, after school, I have a precocious 7y.o. with me. She has teen siblings & is allowed to watch everything....even horror movies. This appals me! She's very verbal about not watching baby stuff.....but I'm adamant. If the rating is Y7....then my preschoolers are not watching it! This drives her nuts.
What about switching to nature programs or Christian programming? Or let your 10y.o. watch a program of her choice when the others are in the tub? Good Luck!
My 9 yr and 6 yr old , one boy one girl, both like the shows on the hub, My little pony, Batman Beyond, family game night, etc.
My 9 yr old may be odd but she still likes sprout, nick jr, etc
Um we don't do I Carly or Hannah Montana, or Spongebob ( hate, hate , hate spongebob) .
They also like to watch Food Network, Man Vs Food, And Mythbusters.
My daughter has two absolute favorite shows and these you will have to get on DVD to watch them: the original Tom and Jerry and Peanuts Gang. My daughter is absolutely in LOVE with Snoopy.
My kids are not as old as your oldest, but there is a show on PBS called WordGirl (it's on the KAET at 3:30, I think). She is like a superhero, so my little ones like it for that, but my sitters and I even like it. It is educational too, you might guess from the name. There is another PBS show called Fetch with Ruff Ruffman where real kids go out and do interesting tasks like learn to square dance or make chocolate. My 5 year old likes it, and the actual kids look like they are around 10 or 12. Phineas and Ferb is not educational, but I think different age groups can enjoy it (as others have mentioned). We also watch a lot of shows on Discovery and Animal Planet, although you do have to be careful as some of the animal shows can get scary for the little ones.
America's Funniest Videos, Ace of Cakes (Food Network), Discovery Channel, Mythbusters, Animal Planet channel, Little House on the Prairie.
I have a 10 and 13 year old and they watch Suite Life on Deck (with twin boys on a cruise ship, used to be set in a hotel, cute and wholesome), Witches of Waverly Place (also wholesome school setting). For cartoons it is mostly Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Totally Spies. If we all watch at night it is either Funniest Home Videos, American Idol or cooking shows.
My ten year old boy and my 8 year old girl like Phineas and Ferb. It is hard to find shows that don't have the characters with disrespectful and negative attitudes. I prefer this show over most. The teenage sister in the show constantly tries to "bust" her brothers for the experiments that they do. It is a funny show and the music is great. We have yet to try Malcolm in the Middle, but hear that is a good one.
I have a ten year old and she really loves a show on Disney channel called "Shake it up". She also watched "Icarly" on Disney.
My 12 & 9 yr old girls love anything on Animal Planet, old re-runs of Full House, Wizards of Waverly Place, Good Luck Charlie & Funniest Home Videos. We are pretty picky about what they watch, and of course we try to limit their tv time. Now that they have ITouch they download episodes of their favorite shows (but at least they don't have commercials on there!)
