What's Your Favorite LOCAL Vacation Spot?

I love taking the kids to Great wolf Lodge for a night or two.

We will rent one of the rooms that has the extra area's for the kids. They fit up to three families...uncomfortably and two families comfortable. We do normally go as a three so that it is cheaper for each family.

You only need one day and a night to get everything outta the hotel/resort. Unless you are planning on doing the Magi-quest. Which thankfully my kiddo's are not young to get into yet:)

I also love that it is only an hours drive from home.

We did go camping as a family for the first time. It was amazing. We plan on doing this more and more. It is perfect for teaching my kid's to be resourceful. And how to be able to walk away from it all and just be simple with nature. I am loving they love the woods, mountains and nature. I was afraid they would hate it.

You're pretty close to Assateague Island, in Ocean City, MD. My family vacationed there for 2 weeks at a time for 13 years of my life. My little brothers and I are going next summer! I can't wait!! It's beach camping, and they have (friendly) wild ponies. There are tons of activities for kids, like the Junior Ranger program. Because it's a state/national park, it's VERY family friendly. You can go into Ocean City for some REAL fun too... they have awesome dining, the BOARDWALK, the haunted house, the kite shop... everything. It's my favorite place in the entire world and I am SO SO SO excited to share this experience with MY family and make our own tradition there!!!!

Santa Barbara, Disneyland, San Diego and Palm Springs! I'm fortunate to have so many great places relatively close.

Our favorite "local" day-cation is Rocking Horse Ranch. It's a resort that's 15 minutes from our home in the Catskills. With a local driver's license you can do a day pass and have the a great day at their water park, horseback riding and "ranch" activities. They do a "local getaway" package for 2 nights and 2 days "off season" for the family which we are booked for! I'm really looking forward to it- especially the in-house babysitting service so we can have dinner one night!

When I lived in Amarillo, I loved going to Palo Duro Canyon. Amarillo is flat and windy and ugly. But drive 20 minutes and its a beautiful golden canyon. I've even planned a vacation to go back home just to go to the canyon.

Here, in DFW, everything and anything you could want is right here, so there is no shortage fo fun. But, to get out of town for a few days, a quick (4 hr) drive to San Antonio is my favorite.
