I went to my friends house yesterday and we sat in her backyard while the kids played. I felt a little itchy while I was there, but after I went home I was bit up! It itches so bad! I know its not mosquitos bites, they are really small and itch like heck! Im itching them til I bleed. She doesnt have pets so I know its not fleas. I might be wrong but I thought chiggers were more of a country thing in tall grass. She lives in the middle of the city, her grass wasnt tall at all. What is this??

What can I do next?

Sounds like chiggers. They can live anywhere there are weeds/grass. They live on the branches of grass waiting for a host, then attack when you brush up against it. The spots usually will itch for a week. (sorry, yes it sucks) Try rubbing it with alcohol, then applying a hydrocortizone creme 2x day. It will stop itching faster, the more you apply the creme in my experience. Or good old calamine lotion (the pink kind) works great.

Sounds like "NO SEE-UMS" - they hurt like heck and itch to no end...

take some benadryl and that will help as well.

I was thinking "no-see-ums" too, but didn't realize they could be as far north as Michigan (they are a problem in parts of FL).

I'm guessing chiggers. I have gotten them in a neighbors yard myself. Put clear fingernail polish on them. That's what helped me with the itching. Good luck!

Check out websites about shingles. If you even think that you might have shingles, you need the medicine in the first 72 for it to be truly effective. Best of luck.
P.S. I only know about this because I spent a day in tall grass, next day had very itchy "bites", was sure it was from being outdoors (wrong), and ended up having shingles!

Chiggers are everywhere. Besides woods, tall grass and all of that...they like to live in cracks found in wooden lawn furniture too. A lot of people don't know that. Sounds like chigger bites. Oatmeal baths and benedryl should calm things down. Aveno lotion has oatmeal and might soothe things. Otherwise cortisone cream.
