Just curious what odd phases other children are going through right now. In the last few weeks our four year old has acquired a liking for the weather channel! It's cute, but definitely weird for a four year old, lol! He always wants to turn on the forcast and just watch the same thing over and over. Sometimes he will even sit in bed and watch the weather channel before falling asleep! weird huh?! So, what are some odd things your kiddos are into right now?

What can I do next?

Mine is now a 14 year old boy - so its all weird!!

But when he was three he was addicted to the musical "Cats". He saw it on PBS, then asked me to buy the video, then would pop it into the VCR every single day when he got home from pre-school. He learned to fast foward to his favorite parts. He also brought it to pre-school for movie day. I think by the time the year was over his class had watched the entire thing.

This addiction lasted for several years. LOL When he was 4 through 6 we went to a casino production of Cats twice and Starlight Express once. I also caught him up way past his bedtime one night watching Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat on PBS.

He was an Andrew Lloyd Weber groupie!!!!!

Right now my 4yo is into anything with swords. Narnia, Quest for Camelot, and even the 2nd Stuart Little (the little bird uses her pin as a sword I guess.) The weather channel thing is pretty funny! Probably very soothing to hear the forecast while going to sleep, haha.

Our four year old insists on checking out all of the weather books at the library... forget Curious George goes to the Zoo he would like the book on Lightning!! He is also very intrigued by garbage trucks and LOVE to play garbage man (my least favorite phase... he pulls out all of his toys and takes them to the dump!! Leaving a huge pile of toys in a random place in the house.) Four must just be the age for the most creative thinking!!

My son is almost four and decided he wants 'fizzy water' in his cereal instead of rice milk. Ugh. I let him-- hey, he eats it all. He's almost four and 'normal' (if there is such a thing) in every other way.

When my oldest was 3 (she's 10 now), her favorite movie was "Weekend At Bernies 2" Lol. She watched it over and over. We never understood the intrigue, and it passed, but man was it funny!

My current 3 year old is obsessed with Nutcrackers. She has a special "nutcracker" voice to make them talk and they're usually rude to her and like to bite people's fingers. Lol.

my son's favorite lately is Wheel of Fortune -- he loves trying to guess which letter Vanna White will flip over next. And, it's educational, right, for a 3 year old? He even tries to spell out some of the words! I suppose as long as you can talk yourself into thinking that he's learning it's OK to watch, LOL!

My oldest son (now 16) used to love watching Like Water for Chocolate and Eat Drink Man Woman when he was 3-5yo. Neither was in English (both had subtitles but he couldn't read them), he just simply loved the cooking! We just bought him a sushi kit as a gift for Yule, and he loves to cook :)

I used to baby sit for a preschooler whose FAVORITE show was Julia Child!! it was all she wanted to watch! When I let my five year old pick out his own clothes and dress him self alone he wears 6-10 shirts at once. I think he likes them so instead of making a decision he wears them all. then he looks like a linebacker! Right now he's obsessively watching funny cat videos on Youtube.

my daughter is crazy obsessed with littlest pet shop toys, they are little cats, dogs, fish, every animal you could think of, they come with houses and cars and that you use to play with. but instead of setting them up and making them talk to each other, she goes in the bathroom gets a ton of toilet paper and makes tiny little blankets and pillows for them and makes them go to sleep, she lines them up by what kind of animal they are. she also is in a singing kick. her name is kaydence that that means rhythm in music, so it fits her well, but she will make up songs about anything and sing them as loud as she can, and dances like she is doing interpretive dance its rather funny.

Ever since my 7 year old was about 3, he's been obsessed with air conditioners, furnaces and boilers. He always asks people what brand of furnace they have and he asks if he can come over when they change their air filter. His favorite thing to do, though, is watch furnace videos ( how they're made, how to fix them, how to maintain them) on YouTube :) Last year he was an air conditioner repairman for Halloween.

It's great how all these kids have their own little weird things. My 4 1/2 yr old daughter loves to put toy animals or other things (jewelry, rocks, sticks) in boxes or bags. She will get stuck on one toy or thing at a time and carry it around for a week or so. It does not come out or if it does, only she can be the one to remove it. A week later, an old toy that she hasn't played with will become the new thing that is carried around.

My son is almost three. He LOVES a belt he got for Christmas. My husbands family knows he typically only wants to open one gift and then play for a few HOURS before opening another. So this Christmas they tried to give him clothes first. He happily played with his belt for several hours. My MIL was bummed he woulnd't open anything elese, but happy that he liked the belt. Apparently it was challenging to find one so tiny.

My five year old is a Weather Channel nut too. When I get home from work and go in my bedroom to "get comfy" he wants to turn on the TV in there and just watch the WC. He is particulary into "Storm Stories." I am shocked that the footage of tornados, floods, etc., doesn't freak him out or scare him.

hehe...that is so cute...my son will be 4 in April and he's been getting into "weird" things lately...Halloween time he was fascinated by scarecrows and skeletons...not sure how weird that really is but I just think it's interesting to see his personality forming and see what his likes and dislikes are...he's into anything scary (loves Scooby-Doo)...whenever someone gets a boo boo or if he gets one he has to see it and analyze it...very cute :)
