They will enjoy them. My 9 yr old daughter has 20 of them and wants more! The internet site is safe & pretty easy. There are also games they can play. My daughter really enjoys hers.
Merry Christmas
any moms know anything about webkinz? My MIL got my girls 4 and 6 webkinz for christmas and I know they are stuffed animals and have codes to an online world where you feed them, play etc. but how hard is it? How much fun is it really for girls?
What is the difference between a webkinz and webkinz jr? Should my younger daughter have the jr instead of regular webkinz? Thanks for your help.
**12/2 edit.... ok this much I know for some of you who are answering. Wenkinz jr. are not smaller... the animals are actually larger it is "lil kinz" that are just the mini version of webkinz. My question is actually to someone who has the JR and a regular webkinz. Jr. is designed for younger kids... so playing the games and taking care of the pet online~ is there a lot of difference? Is it really much easier for a 4 year old or can she handle a regular webkinz? I've only seen the webkinz site once and my daughters were not around to try it out.... and I have never seen the webkinz jr. site so don't know how it works at all. I don't want to be taking care of these pets for them to keep them alive or whatever so I want to make sure that this is something they are capable of doing themselves... with my supervision getting online of course.

They are great! I had 2 of them myself about a year ago! I was addicted to the games, and I am 33!!!! I didn't so much get into dressing my animals and changing around their rooms, I just loved the games! There are games that you play, and that is how you earn "$" to buy new furniture, food, clothes, games, etc for your webkinz. There are also games that you play daily and even hourly that give you extra chances to win $ and prizes for your pet. You can do it on any computer, just like you check your email anywhere. They are really cute and completely safe. My 10 yo niece plays with hers when she visits and has shown my 3 yo how to play, so I got my 3 yo one this year for Christmas. I think she will love it. The one I got was from Walgreens and it was a Webkinz/Webkinz jr bonus pack. It was $9.99, and that was a great deal! I don't really know anything about the jr, but we'll see how it goes!
My son (7 now) has about a dozen of them, and I myself have 3. They are so fun, and addicting! You go online, and design rooms for them, play games and earn webkinz cash to "buy" clothes or stuff for the rooms. The website is safe, you cannot chat freely but can only choose from responses and whatnot, and that is only in one specific part of the site.
The only caveat is that they try to encourage you to buy certain things to "unlock" parts of the site. I don't get any of that stuff, and I still love it. Girls love it, because they get to decorate and dress up their pet.
I haven't looked at Webkinz Jr much, but it seems like it would be good for a two year old. My son started at 5 and he had no trouble at all. The four and fives in my preschool class have no trouble with the regular webkinz site at all.
Shoot me a message if you have any more questions. :)
webkinz jr are smaller
My daughter really enjoys them and has for some time now. She is older, she is nine now. But like I said she has had them for some time. She enters all the codes herself and has since kindergarten I am sure. I stand over her initially and encourage her to write down the password etc.
Her little cousin enjoys them too.
As a matter of fact I bought her two for christmas this year. Cracker barrell has them buy one get one 1/2 off.
My daughter got her first last year for her 6th birthday, Was pretty easy for her to figure out. My 4 year old boys love to watch her play, but havent gotten into it much yet themselves. They each have one, and my daughter has several, and always wants more. The bad part is you only have a year to play and then have to buy another or accessory to keep playing, but is worth it if they enjoy it. Those are also their favorite stuffed animals. They are always in their hands so it is a win-win all around for my family. I dont know anything about the junior though. Is it just a smaller animal but the games are the same of is it just for extra points on the games? That is something to look into. Also, you will need to decide if you want both girls to have their own account or put them on the same. I put all my kids on one just because the twins are not as interested, so my daugther can play with all animals when she is online, but think about how your girls will be if the other goes in and changes anything in her animals room. Just something to think about, but well worth it in my family. Games are a bit addicting for me as well.
my 7 year old son 6 at the time got several for Christmas last year n he loves them
i actually got on the site with him for a while n also when he was at school so i could figure it out my best advice is if you can go buy a webkinz for yourself so you can have the site fairly figured out by Christmas also one last thing i personally love getting on there and playing the games
My daughter who is 9 loves these. She has had them for a couple years. She started with the webkinz, no jrs. We just bought for Christmas a jr for my nephew who is 4. My daughter says the jr games are geared for younger children. Hope this helps.
My daughter was into them for about 4 years (going to be 9 this month) and LOVED them. Webkinz and webkinz jr are the same exact thing except for the size, think a lion (regular) and a cub (jr) or just a 'baby' sized animal.
As far as the code goes you get on webkinz.com and register and put in your code. The children don't have the ability to type in their own words so there is no chance of 'bad talk' like you find on most websites. There are a LOT of games they can play, some learning ones too. The kinz get a room and you can earn 'kinz cash' by playing games to buy more rooms, more furniture, more clothes. You also have to 'feed' and care for your kinz (if they get sick take them to the Dr. office, wash them, brush their teeth, play w/ them). It really is a fun AND SAFE site. Too bad my daughter out grew them :( *SIGH*
*EDIT* Just found out webkinz JR wasn't what I thought it was, I was thinking of 'lil' kinz' THOSE are the mini webkinz. *EDIT*
I have a 5 and 9 yo set of girls. They have been playing with these online for about 3 years. They love it. They have a great time taking care of their pets in the virtual world. The accounts are good for a year so if you want to keep it going you either have to pay or get a new Webkinz the next year. They are too expensive though.
Honestly, it's not hard at all. Actually, I enjoy playing some of the games w/ Abbie. She teaches ME how to play some of them.
They design rooms for the webkinz, they get "credits" which they use to "purchase" items to decorate the room of their new pet. I like the fact that they have a BUDGET that they have to work with when decorating the room.
Webkinz jr are just smaller pets. I don't necessarily think she nees the jr pets. That's basically it.
