Well A., I think this is an excellent question. I can only answer by telling you what I would pay.

My husband and I work full time and we have a couple flower beds and a dozen pots scattered around our patio and a few hanging plants. This early and hot spring/summer is really taking a toll on our seedlings and flowers. I have to water them first thing after work. And it can take me quite a while.

If a neighbor girl were to offer to do this for us, say every Tuesday and Thursday, I would pay maybe $5-$10 for that per week

Good luck with your garden care service!!

It depends on how many flowers they have. If they have just a few I would say $3. If they have a whole bunch, then figure out how long it will take you and if you will be using a hose or filling a watering can 20 times. Maybe $10 if it is gonna take a while. I'm glad to see a young girl trying to work and earn money. Good luck! :-)

If you only have to do it once, why not just be a good neighbor and offer to do it for free (unless there are several gardens, and it will take you over 45 minutes). I'm sure they would bring you back a nice gift.

Years ago we paid our neighbor $5 to come over each day for 4 days and leave food and fresh water for our outdoor cat. It only took her 10 minutes each day.

My 15 yr old daughter watered flowers, took out garbage for pickup and brough tthe can back to the garage, and picked up mail for our neighbors when she was 10-14 while the next door neighbors were on a 1 week vacation 2-3 times a year.

Each time, she was paid a total of $20 and sometimes they brought a t-shirt back for her as well.

She did not "charge" them. She just said she would be glad to help and they have always paid her according to what they would pay anyone.

Personally, I would pay at least $20 for a week if someone took the time to care for my flowers, bring in my mail and make sure my trash cans were put away.

Many times, it depends on where you are located. We are in a northern suburb of Dallas. If we were in a rural area, I am sure that payment would be less.

Good for you for helping out.

Once or twice = free.

Regularly, about $1 per day
