Warts in Daycare

I am a mother of 2 and one on the way. I am also a childcare teacher in a daycare center. One of my childeren in my class has over 8 warts on her hands. I would like to know if my other kids in my nclass are in danger of getting watrs if playing with toys or using markers and cryons behinde this child? I aslo want to know im in the same danger? I have kids at home that i could pass this on to. What should I do? Should i excuse her from daycare til further treatment is taking?How do I tell the parents? They just put bandaides over them and send her on her way...Please help!!!!I love my kids and want noe of them to be embarresed or a outcast...Thank you

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HIGHLY CONTAGEOUS!!! Until the child is undergoing treatment I would be calling that parent asap to address the issues...OMG..WTH...what is wrong with these parents??? Protect yours and the other kids in the class. Please santize those toys and other objects asap.

Are you certain they are just warts? Have you ever seen or heard of Molluscum Contagiosum (sp?)? They look sort of like warts, but they are not. And they are very contagious, easily spread and hard to get rid of.

Talk to the licensing worker who inspects your facility. I don't think warts is one of the illnesses that you can send kids home with. If you have concerns ask the parents.

Perhaps you can ask your kids doc about it too. He may be able to tell you what to look for to see if it is something that needs to be addressed.

I would disagree with some of the posters. Warts can take months to get rid of. If they are covering them then they are trying. I don't think you can excuse them from daycare until they are gone or they won't be back for a long time. If you are concerned ask for a note from the pediatrician. My son has mollosceam contagiosim a relative of warts and the doc said it lasts 9-12 months. Keeping him out of school would not be possible. She told us just to cover them. My nephew Has warts on his fingers and we have never caught them.
