Yes, yes, yes. I am not a homeopathic person at all, but my sister gave me Hyland's homeopathic teething tablets nine years ago when I had my first baby. They really did work for all three of my kids. Try them.

Hello you superhero moms out there!
I've heard tell that teething tablets work wonders for infants trying to cut teeth. I'm a little leary when it comes to homeopathic stuff. Does anyone know whats in them, or why they work?
Yes, yes, yes. I am not a homeopathic person at all, but my sister gave me Hyland's homeopathic teething tablets nine years ago when I had my first baby. They really did work for all three of my kids. Try them.

Teething Tablets are great. I have used them for years. My oldest is now 11. They are harmless too. My niece accidently got into them in the diaper bag. There was half a bottle left. She ate them all. They called Poison control and they told her that it won't harm her. All it will do is relax her and she may fall asleep. Because it has cammomile in it. You will really like them. Give them a try.
I LOVE the teething tabs! I even sometimes combined them with advil for the really hard days. but the ingredients are (in lamens terms):
Calcium phosphate
Chamomile
Coffee
Alkaloids 0.0003%
in a pleasant lactose N.F (milk and sugar) base.
Hi E.,
There may be several different kinds of teething tablets available. Some may be herbally-based, some homeopathic. Homeopathic teething tablets are basically just sugar pills with the "essence" of the original ingredient still there.
If you're concerned about safety, homeopathic is always safer than herbs. Homeopathic medicines are so diluted that sometimes there isn't even one molecule of the original substance remaining in the final product.
This is usually the reason why conventional medicine claims that it can't possibly work. They do not recognize non-chemical action in the body.
But those of us who use homeopathics know they do work! In fact, homeopathy is well-accepted in Europe and well-researched.
As far as giving it to your infant, I believe it's safer and gentler than any other medicine. With my four kids, homeopathic remedies were always first choice, especially when they were small.
HTH,
B.
I am more leary about medications that doctors prescribe because they are man-made and always have horrible side effects. Homeopathic derives from natural things, which I believe God put here for a purpose. I will always try the homeopathic way before I take a prescription or have surgery.
Teething tablets are wonderful! Orajel just makes the gums even harder for the teeth to come through plus it tastes bad and is very temporary.
Actually, Genesa only has part of the truth. There ARE certain homeopathic medicines that can cause counter reaction. However, Lavender, most mints, and chammomile don't react with other medicines.
Just remember, most of your prescription drugs have a homeopathis beginning. Heart meds, are derived from Foxglove (digitalis).
If you don't want to go the route of the teething tablets, you can buy some Chammomile tea (Celestial Seasonings makes a good one, or go to a health food store and buy bulk) brew the tea and soak a washcloth in it. Twist it up (without wringing out too much) and freeze it and when the little one is having issues give her the washcloth to chew on. It also absorbs drool too, so no constant face wiping.
Good Luck, and remember......teething only lasts a little while.
I was told to never use them by several people including fellow moms AND MDs. There are things in them that are not really good for the kids (I can't remember what...I want to say caffeine or something like that, but I can't quite remember what is in them...and they are not FDA approved or monitored)! Anyway, I found cold washcloths or I would put an ice cube in a washcloth and rubber band it and then lots of motrin at bed time and tylenol during the day or alternate them. He also found that the drummer to his xylophone could fit farther back into his mouth to reach the back molars better. My son in 1 and already has 16 teeth and is working on his 24 month molars already, so teething was something I got to know very quickly! But it does have to end someday...just keep that in mind! If you have any more questions or need more suggestions, I would be happy to talk more with you! Good luck!
S., 26, mom of Tyrrone, 14 months, with 16 teeth and #2 on the way in Aug!
First always consult your Pediatrician. I got the green light to try the teething tablets, they did NOTHING for my daughter, however for my son worked like a charm. He would be fussy and grumpy and I could give him one of those when he was really teething hard and within minutes felt comfort.
For my daughter Motrin was the only thing that worked, she teethed really young though, had two teeth by five mos.
I found mine in the baby section of the grocery, not the big expensive stuff at the health food store, took them to my Dr and asked first. I used the ones Jen W recommended the Hylands.
They don't last long, maybe a few hours at the most but during the day that worked for my son.
Motrin would last a good 6 to 8 hours on my kids at night and much easier for them to get good sleep.
I would ask and maybe try Infant Motrin to see if that helps you too.
Tylenol did nothing for my kids during teething either.
I don't know the name of the tables, but you can get some at Wal-Mart. I used them on my 3 year old when she was teething and had forgotten about them until just now. I need to get some for my 18 month old.
E.,
Yes those teething tablets work, they are still pretty inexpensive unlike a lot of the homeopathic remedies out there. Freezing teething tubes are great, buscuits, and tea tree oil are great also. I have not heard anyone say they are afraid of homeopathic before, generally it is doctors and the meds they prescribed with all the side effects.
I used them on my kids when they were young. I now have a granddaughter and I swear by them. They have chamomil in them. They help with the irritability. They are awsome! They dissolve in the mouth and you don't have to fight for your little one to take them.
i love teething tablets they work wonders. they have belladonna in them but used right they help with the pain and crankyness of teething. sometimes they even help the kids to sleep and its not a drug.
I LOVE these tablets. They have Chamomelia in them, which seems to really help babies sleep. I've used them w/ both of my kids and they work wonders!
HTH,
A.
I don't know what's in them, but you could probably ask at the natural store where you can purchase them. But we used them with great success. It was easy to give to the baby and tasted fine unlike the baby Oragel. They seemed to work magic. I also used the ones for fever and inflammation and for ear pain with success.
Hello E.,
My sisters and I all used teething tablets for our children. I personally loved them. My oldest daughter especially needed them. They helped her sleep but didn't help with the diarrhea, rashes, and staining her clothes from slobber. But the sleep thing was worth it. Have fun with it all. Good luck.
Teething Tablets. they work and the nurse that came to help me with my son after i had him told me that there is no chance of them overdosing. which is good if your little girls are busy like my son.
Teething tablets are a Godsend! They have lavender and chamomile in them. Unlike the orajel that tastes rotten and numbs the mouth, the teething tablets just take the pain away and taste good. I tried them to make sure they worked :) I recommend teething tablets over orajel any day.
I wonder why you would be so leery of homeopathics and not synthetic drugs....just the same don't give her teething tablets. They do have CRAP in them. However there is an all natural (truely) alternative that has all of the soothing active ingredients without the extra stuff. You can get it at Vitamin Cottage and Whole Foods. One comes in a tablet form (just like the teething tablets) and they dissolve instantly. It's called camamilia. It is best for teething and irritability. The other thing to use is called camilia (s/p?) and it comes in individual dose droppers. That can be found in the kids section of the health food store. The droppers a really nice for when your kids are away. It's already dosed. The Camilia works the best for daughter, for teething. The Camamilia works for general irritablity and sleeplessness for us. Good luck!

I use the teething tablets from Walmart with my twins and I love them. I especially like that I'm not giving my kids Tylenol all of the time. Sometimes the teething tablets don't work, so we use the Tylenol, but it's great to have something else to try first. My kids love them and would eat them like candy if I let them. When one kid gets some the other gets so jealous, it's cute.
I used those with my son. I am not sure if they worked, or if he just liked them enough to settle down a few minutes while he ate them. I wouldn't swear by them or anything, but they did seem to help some. If you are leary about the homeopathic side of things, I can tell you that my older child got into the bottle (I didn't get the lid on all the way) and ate a few, and I called poison control, and they said that even if she ate the whole bottle, she would have been fine...so there isn't anything sketchy in them that could hurt your baby. Go ahead and try them--either they will work for you, or they won't.
Hi E.,
I am a huge advocate of homeopathic remedies for 2 reasons. They DO Not interact with other medicines (such as with my thyroid medicine) & they work.
Homeopathic medicines are derived from natural substances & are given in very small, specially prepared doses to stimulate the body's ability to heal itself mentally, emotionally & physically. Like cures like therefore the substance that can cause a set of symptoms in a healthy person can cure the same symptoms in an ill person.
Homeopathy also treats the WHOLE body not just a particular symptom, therefore you see results & get results, not just cover them up.
The science:
Each remedies is diluted over & over again. Contrary to the belief that it will become weaker over is dillution is incorrect. It actually becomes stronger. I would love to explain this but it would be pages long & BORING. There is a great reference book I have but I have used it so much it has lost both it's covers (time for a new one?) It is by a couple Bob & Judyth, Last name???
It's funny my husband grew up in a family who used homeopathic remedies quite often, but was still skeptical. It took 2 instances to make himan advocate.
#1 We had a tornado at our house about 10 years ago & another one about 4 years ago. It sent me into a horrible anxious, scared mess. Anxiety attacks, panic attacks, I even felt I was going to stop breathing when I went to bed. I went to my naturopath & with in a few weeks became able to "deal" with these attacks, while being on a constitutional remedy. After 6 mo. I was a new person & 1 year later I could stay home & not mind when the weather looked bad.
#2 Our 4 yr. old was 9 mo old at the time...She developed a wart under her middle finger (a 9 mo. old w/ a wart???) So I called up my naturopath & she told me to give her Thuja. I did for about 1 week & stopped. Within 2-4 days the wart pulled out & fell off. We have used this remedy 2x for her warts with the same amazing results.
For each of my children I treat with homeopathic remedies. Chamomilla is a fav. for little ones. Tummy issues, teething & just all together unsettled.
For teething the "teething tablets" sometimes work but since they are a mixture of multiple remedies you do not know which one is working. My suggestion is get a great home homeopathic book (I will try to find out the name of the one I have) & look, listen & find the remedy that best suits your little one.
Here is the list of possible teething remedies:
Calcarea carbonica (calcium carbonate)
Calcarea phosphorica (calcium phosphate)
Chamomillia (chamomile)
Silica (flint)
But Chammomillia is the most common teething remedy...I hope this helps & if you have any more questions please feel free to message me. Take care. G.
PS. I would love to meet you, we are having a "open house & marketplace at Bella Sera Feb. 7th from 10-5. Please feel free to come by, you can message me for details.
I loved using them when my last child was teething. I just wish that I had found them sooner with my other kids. Please give them a try. I found no side effects on my kids. I have highly recommended them to my friends . I really dont know what is in them but I do use alot of homeopathic stuff and never have been dissatisified.
Love them, used them last night in fact however I do not think you can replace IB with them. I used them together alternativing between the two. My son thinks their tasty so he will usually take them right away without fighting me. They seems to do the trick to calm him down especially in the middle of the night when he fights taking IB.
A friend of mine offered some homeopathic teeting tablets to me when my first was a teething baby, she bought them from Wal-Mart, I can not remember the brand name. I read the label because I wanted to know just what I was giving my baby, and I discovered that one of the ingredients was tea! The last thing that my cranky child needed was caffine! So I too would be wary of giving your child anything that you do not know the ingredients of.
Hi E.,
I like the other mom's have also used the teething tablets and loved them. They dissolved very quickly in their mouths so their is no risk of choking. They are mostly chamomile, so they are very safe. Also my daughter happened to find the entire bottle and eat them all, I of course freaked and called poison control. She could not possible over dose on any of the ingredients, and it didn't even give her a stomach ache. You really will see an immediate difference if you give them to your child in how fast it calms their mood. Good Luck. BTW, they also have sleeping tablets called Calm's Forte. My little one was too resistant to fall asleep to them, but those are also highly recommended.
E., I have twin boys that are 4 1/2 and when they were teething I used oraljel, the homeopathic teething tablets and infantes tylenol. When they fused about the taste of orajel I used the tablets. I don't remember what was in them but it did help take the edge off their pain. I think it was just a pain med. If they are having a lot of pain try giving a half dose of infantes tylenol, that worked for me as well. Good luck and hope your little one is feeling bette soon. Sleep is a terrible thing to loose.

Oh my gosh...buy those things! With my first two daughters I used Oragel. That just makes babies mad. Think about that...sure, it might take some pain away but it's got to be annoying. You can't feel anything in your mouth and you're drooling even more. Ew. Not to mention that it wears off pretty fast. Just put some in your mouth and see if you like it...not good. Ew, again. I learned about the teething tablets when I had my last daughter. Oh man, I wish I would have known about those with my first two. It says on the package not to be alarmed if your baby falls asleep. It's because they can finally relax not being in pain. It's is the chamomile. We drink chamomile tea and it's soothing. Putting the tablets under the tongue is what helps to make it so effective. It gets in to the system much faster. So it goes like this (and every time)...the baby is crying and panicking, your searching everywhere, "where did I put those things?!". You finally find them them, put them under their tongue, baby SIGHS in relieve, baby stops crying, baby might fall asleep. If no sleep, baby is happy again. Once, I got called out of church to the nursery because my daughter was hysterical. She was about 4 months old and already cutting teeth...she got this one just a few days after this incident. I immediately knew this was a teething cry, you just know, put her in her car seat and drove the two miles home with a screaming baby. Rushed inside the house, gave her teething tablets, there's the sigh, viola, done crying! The point is, they work and they ARE safe! I did run it by my her pediatrician before using them. Most would probably tell you they don't work, but I have never heard anyone say they weren't safe. Those who don't think they work probably haven't had a teething infant that they have given them to. I would keep those things on hand! You have to consider that to get the same effect you would have to keep your baby loaded on Tylenol 24/7 and we all know that you can't do that. These are a great solution and they really take the pain out of teething for babies and the stress and heartache away for the parents watching the pain that comes with teething! YAY for teething tablets!!
I use Hyland's teething tablets. I've only been able to find them at King Soopers. They have Chamomile as an ingredient. I have tried drops and Anbesol (when I was out of town and could not find Hyland's). The tablets were by far the best. They also make a "colic" tablet, which I think is pretty much the same - it's just calming somehow.
My son cuts teeth in the middle of the night and calms down very quickly after a few tablets!
Good luck with the teeth!
I highly recommend the homeopathic teething tablets. I found them at Whole Foods. I researched the ingredients and they have sugar and a smidge of Belladona (diluted WAY down and more of a by-product..kinda what homeopathic is anyway). So...sugar in little ones actually has a Morphine like effect. It sedates them & takes pain away as does Belladona. (I'm a RN and we actually use sugar water on a paci when we have to put IV's in little ones in the Emergency Room...and it calms them down).
I know the Belladona in it scares moms..but do your research and realize what "homeopathic" means.
Another thing I was told to use is those mesh feeding bags. Put an ice cube in it and your child can suck on that. Hope this info helps!
I used the homeopathic teething tablets with both of my older kids and it was great. I noticed that they always went to sleep shortly afterwards which was wonderful. They usually dissolve right in their mouths so it is not a fight trying to get them to take the pills. I know that there is camomille in the pills to help the babies relax.
