Santa Ana Zoo has a petting zoo; 1801 E. Chestnut Ave., Santa Ana ###-###-####; long road trips not optimum for 2-year-olds.... camping out at Lake Skinner, near Temecula wine country for the little ones, bring the big-wheel and the push toys, maybe a tiny fishing pole for the lake. Nice showers, all you need is a tent. You can drive to town for supplies.

Hello E.,

This past Christmas holiday break my son was 2 1/2yrs old. We took our first family trip to San Diego. We live in Buena Park so the drive was perfect, we left when it was his naptime, he slept the whole way and was ready to go when we got there. We did a 3 day trip.

Started off with Sea World, this is great. Since your daughter loves the hands on part. My son held a starfish, a sting ray gave him a high 5, he fed the dolphins twice (this would have to be his favorite because you get to pet them before you feed them. He also fed the sea lions, which one of them ended up playing peek-a-boo with my son. It was wonderful!!!! Oh yeah, he also fed the ducks. Now at Sea World they have the Elmo's World Bay of Play, we can't wait to go back this October!

The second day was the San Diego Zoo. It was nice, saw a few of the shows and totally missed the kids zoo part, it was closed by the time we got there. The next time to go we are going to do the San Diego Wild Animal Park.

The third day was Sea World again, which he did the same thing as the first day. He loved it so much. I think the next time we go we will do Sea World, Wild Animal Park and then Legoland.

Another trip we did (as a reward for potty training) we did 3 days at Disneyland. Yes, we live right down the street from it so we didn't have to pay for a hotel. We ended up getting passes for Disneyland (oh yeah Sea World too.) But, we took our time at Disneyland knowing that we had 3 days there.

But, I loved the San Diego trip, you could even stay a day on the beach. I think I will have to talk to my husband again about maybe going to San Diego sooner than October, I am starting to want to go just by talking about it.

Good Luck,
M.

The Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach has quite a few great touch pools throughout that she can experience the animals with. Also, the Santa Ana Zoo in Santa Ana is a great little zoo and has a great petting zoo for little ones. Additionally, San Diego has both Sea World and the San Diego Zoo that both have animal petting and feeding areas for little children.

My son loves Disneyland and has for a long time. They do have a small petting zoo and you can enjoy water play and a show in California Adventure in addition to all the kids rides at both parks.

I don't know where you're coming from, so I don't know if this would qualify as a vacation. My son just turned 2 on Thursday and one of the places we were considering taking him is Zoomars Petting Zoo and Bird Park:

Come by car or take the train to 31791 Los Rios Street , San Juan Capistrano, CA 92675 | ###-###-####
Open Daily 10am to 5pm.

It sounds like a place that my animal loving 2 year old would love. He's already getting a kick out of the website. If you sign up for the Kids Club, your daughter will get in for $3 instead of the $5 general admission rate.

Have fun!
M.

You and your husband should go someplace that YOU will enjoy. Wherever you go, your daughter will be happy to be with you, and to participate in what you find interesting! Wherever you end up going, you'll be able to find fun stuff for her too! Enjoy!

When my grandson was two, he slept through most of Sea World. My vote would be Legoland which is geared to the younger child. Also, in La Habra, they have a Children's Museum... also geared for young ones. Enjoy.
