You can do an "eating" detox and it will help tremendously...I don't recommend doing the fasting things because you never keep the weight off. However, if you cut out all sugar, all red meat, all processed foods, dairy and alcohol you can give your body a break from all of the chemicals/additives and you will lose some weight at the same time. As long as you are getting enough vitamin d and calcium (which you can obtain from almond milk or various veggies etc) you can adopt this way of eating for life, or slowly add foods back in, or just have certain things on occasion. It is difficult at first but you learn to get creative and can make some really tasty stuff that is great for you! My husband and I love to sautee leeks and pears in a little olive oil and toss it in some cooked barley. Grains such as barley, quinoa, bulgar wheat etc are SO good for you and will be a staple for you if you decide to eat this way. If you want more info PM me and I will be glad to give you all kinds of food suggestions etc. My hubby lost 8 pounds the first week of doing this (and has kept them off) and I lost 4. You can have unlimited amounts of the certain foods so you are never hungry either :)
