R., I am sorry to hear about the things you are going through. My sister has been going through a custody battle with her ex for a few years now and he also lies and gets everything he wants. Recently, she had to change her daughters last name to his last name even though he denied her and wasn't even there for her birth. My entire family despises him. Anyway, she had a lawyer and it didn't help. It was almost like everyone was afraid of his lawyer for some unknown reason. Anyway, I don't know the laws in your state, but in NC once a child reaches a certain age (I believe it is 12) then they can testify in court and tell a judge who they want to live with and how they feel. It might be worth checking into. Hope something good happens soon. I feel for all the children that have to go through this. It hurts them more than anything. Good Luck!!!!
I'd suggest checking in your area to see if they have something like a Guardian Ad Litem program, a (free) program that would be there to serve your daughter's best interests and help her to navigate through the court system.
Perhaps someone at her school, a local social services agency, Legal Aid, or a youth center could help you find the help she deserves. There may also be a Women's Resource Center near you that could inform you about legal, financial, and other support available to you and your daughter.
12 yrs of custody problems can't be good for anyone involved. I know you want to make sure your daughter is in a safe place emotionally and physically, and that there is a quick end to all of the bickering and stress. Best of luck to you.
My husband is a family law attorney and a very good one, I might add. Where do you live? MS OR TN? You may reach his office at ###-###-####, William Jones, IV.
OH...just looked at your profile and noticed you live in KY. So sorry you are going through this. I hope you find a great attorney in your area!!
How sad for your child to be going through this all of her life. Does your ex not realize you cant take back those years? You cant change a memory? For the sake of your child, you guys should accept you dont get along, and you both love that child. She is the one suffering. He needs to be more mature and handle the situation to the benefit of your child. I am sorry, I dont know a good lawyer, but legal aid has some excellent lawyers that work for the victim and is a very minimal cost. Every area has a legal aid office. Not sure where you are, but I know Tullahoma has one. They do give excellent help and support for your type of situation. Good luck and God bless.
