Vasectomy Didn't Work

Has anyone needed TWO vasectomys? My hubby's testing is still showing swimmers 9 months later. He's meeting with Dr on Monday to see what's next.

I wonder if scar tissue from the first surgery would make the 2nd one more difficult? (I almost said harder haha)?

Any 'been there, done that' s?

What can I do next?

My sisters friend had a tubal. Her husband had a vasectomy and they are the proud parents of a bouncing baby boy. We still call him the miracle baby.

We know. My husband feels like Super Procreator of the World. LOL His first one was 1 year ago by a well-known urologist, who never has any issues. His 2nd one is scheduled for this next month. Ugggg.

Our urologist does the no needle, no scapel technique. Very little scar tissue and no stitches.

A friend of mine's husband had a vasectomy and had TWO specimen checks - one at 6 weeks and another at 6 months. BOTH clear. 2 years later, she's pregnant. He has his 2nd vasectomy and so far, he's clear.

Good luck. Let me know how it goes! We might be in the same boat.

We're not at the point of a vasectomy yet, but here's a good stat to know:

There is 1 in 2000 chance of a pregnancy resulting from vasectomy failure - 0.05% failure rate.

It's the most reliable form of birth control/sterilization with the lowest failure rate. A tubal ligation is ten times more likely to fail than a vasectomy.

It's just natures way of saying you aren't finished having babies yet. hehe!
I had my tubes tied and have heard stories of still getting pregnant after that. Nothing is a for sure thing.

Yep, a mom at my kids' school just had a "vasectomy baby" this year - her husband had a vasectomy 6 years prior, had gone in for the required testing at that time, and then years later, bam! She got pregnant. What a shock for both of them! He had to have another vasectomy, and I imagine going forward he will go in every 2 years like he's supposed to, to make sure it hasn't reversed itself again!

omg! I didn't know such a thing could happen. Good thing I'll be the one getting fixed when we're done!

I personally know 4 "vasectomy babies" in the last year!
I really wish that standard protocol is to continuously test...
This is the reason that DH has had one, and I had Essure done as well.

Maybe try a different urologist? They might be able to provide more feedback for why it's not taking.

Apparently there are different ways to do it. If they just cauterize it it can grow back, but if they cut out a section and it is very unlikely to grow back.
