I went to Disney World for my graduation celebration. It was the perfect vacation with or without children but if you go with kids I would recommend getting a meal plan. Eating there is costly.

Would you consider Houston, TX? You can get a CityPass ($39/adults, $29/child 3-11). This pass gives you access to 1) Space Center Houston, 2) Downtown Aquarium,3) Houston Museum of Natural Science, and then your choice between 4) Houston Zoo or Houston Health Museum, and between 5) Houston Museum of Fine Arts or Houston Children's Museum.

The only gliche is that you have to use the pass within 9 days, meaning, you have to visit all your destinations in 9 days. This shouldn't be a problem if you are visiting Houston and can't stay long.

There are lots of nice hotels you can stay at. We have stayed at many 4-5 star hotels for cheap on priceline.com, or similar travel discount sites. We got a room for $50/night at the Omni, $80/night at the Intercontinental, $75 at Hilton Hotel Americas.

Here's hoping you chose Htown but have fun whereever you decide to go!

how much money are you willing to spend? How far are you willing to travel? and how long of a trip do you think you could/want to take? These will all probably impact where you go and what you do. Then I'll give you some suggestions :) Congrats on graduating!

If you can afford Disney, absolutely go for it!! Otherwise, there's a lot to see and do here in Chicago (great museums and city attractions). We will be visiting St. Louis this summer with our kids. We plan to visit the zoo and museums there. Or head to FL or the east coast for some time at the beach.... So many possibilities depending on your budget.

I think choosing a type of destination first would help with the suggestions...i.e. the beach, mountains, state park, out of country, amusement park, etc...
Puerto Rico is always a fun destination for the whole family, lots to see and do, and the food and scenery are great!
But if you are only thinking of a weekend trip, then you are close to Savannah, the beaches in GA/AL/SC, Key West, Disneyworld, even Atlantis depending on the age of the kid(s), or possibly hanging out in Nashville or New Orleans.
Even Las Vegas has off the strip fun things for family and then you can get a sitter for nights when you go to the casinos without the kids.
