Anybody flown w them recently? Question, they only allow 25 lbs per baggage per person at check-in. Do u know if my husband and I can check-in one luggage together to combine the weight to make it 50 lbs? Instead of 25 lbs individually, separate luggage. I

It was not possible for me for an international flight to France .I assumed it was and i had to pay 100 dollars extra.So totally not worth it. I had two bags coming back.And this was for myself and my two years old son in may 2011.

I flew to New York last month on United. The guidelines are : each bag can weigh no more than 50 lbs. that bag costs $25. if you don't want to pay for that your allowed 1 carry on and 1 purse/ laptop type bag that must be stowed under your seat. they have gotten very very tight on the carryon stuff. they have a person at the gate who watches the bags going on the plane. if it is bigger than the size they approve they make you check it gateside and it will go under the plane. they will have it for you when you step off the plane.
It will cost you ... I typically bring a 50lb bag and it cost's extra.
I flew three weeks ago from LAX to Philly on United....it was a 50 pound limit for $25. I was 5 pounds over on the outbound trip and had to pay $100 (well, my company did). It would have been much less expensive to have suitcases.
It is usually pounds per bag per person. The weight limit is in place because of the Union "limitations" of the baggage handlers. Pack 2 bags.
Each bag has a max weight of 50 lbs. If you go over even 1 lb, you will pay extra on top of the fee of the bag itself ($25 per bag). If you only use 1 bag, make sure there is still room in it if you bring anything back from your trip. Have a great flight!
