Hi D.,
I use Clinique Repairware eye cream and it is amazing. I put it on at night and when I wake up in the morning no dark circles. It's about $38.00 for 1/2 ounce but you don't need a lot and it lasts a long time.
I hope this helps and good luck!

I have the same problem. I have dark under eye circles that I cannot get rid of. I am iron deficient and taking iron supplements but it is not helping at the under eye circles at all. I know I have allergies and my eyes are dry and itchy quite often. I am going to look into more allergy testing.

do you have allergies? Physicians formula has a concealer that I love. It comes in a tube that is double ended with a wand at each end with a different concealer on each end. They have one for under eye circles and then another one that has a green concealer on one end that conceals blemishes and redness. I can't remember how much it is. It works great though.

I found the best thing ever!! It's JASON Naturals Vitamin K Cream Plus. You can get it at fruitful yeild, meijers, or whole foods. It's between 18 and 23 dollars depending where you go,, but it's worth it's weight in gold, and works almost intantaneously. It lasts about two months, and is also great if you have sensitive skin, or are prone to redness and rosacea like I am. If you cannot find it at the stores mentioned, you can go to their website www.jason-naturals.com.

Hi D.,

Do you have allergies? Sometimes working on the allergies helps with the eye issues. I can provide with you information on what other people have done to improve the immune system using a nutritional apptroach. As far as skincare goes, Shaklee has a product called Enfuselle Eye Treatment which has helped many people, including myself. My issue was with extremely dry skin under my eyes. Prior to Shaklee, I used 2 pricey department store products which didn't really solve my problem. Shaklee's product is reasonably priced and worked better for me than both of the other ones. I've been using their Enfuselle line for 8 years, and I get many compliments on my skin. If you would like more information, let me know.

Nothing says exhaustion and strain like dark circles under your eyes. The problem is, you may be getting plenty of sleep every night and still wake up with puffy raccoon eyes. Now what? Read on to find out why you get under-eye circles and how to reduce their appearance or get rid of them altogether.

Causes of Dark Circles
Dark circles are often a heredity trait. The skin around our eyes is the most delicate and thinnest skin in the body. Dark circles under the eyes are blood vessels that can be seen through the skin, producing the bluish tint.

Allergies are another common cause of dark circles. When you rub and scratch your itchy eyes, it irritates the skin and can break tiny capillaries beneath the skin, causing puffiness and discoloration. If allergies are the root of your problem, simply treat them or avoid what you're allergic to. If your dark circles or puffiness are constant, you may have an undetected food allergy or an allergy to a chemical in your surroundings. Consult an allergist to determine what you may be allergic to.

Chinese medicine considers dark circles as a sign of weakness in the kidney network. Kidney weakness is due to exhaustion and overstrain coupled with lack of rest and relaxation. Since the kidney network in Chinese medicine governs the hormonal system, it affects the pigment melanin. It is said that unhealthy and depleted kidneys produce pigment deposit under the skin around the eyes and other parts of the face.

Many cosmetic problems can be attributed to vitamin deficiencies. Dark circles and puffiness are often thought to be due to vitamin K deficiency or a lack of antioxidants in the diet.

It is also believed that lack of the mineral iron can cause dark circles. An iron deficiency may point to anemia, which is a potentially serious medical condition that requires treatment. If you believe you may have anemia, see your family doctor to schedule blood work.

Dark circles occur more frequently and are more noticeable with age, because as we get older, our skin loses collagen and becomes thinner and more translucent.

Under-eye Remedies
Reduce the puffiness and lighten your circles with these all-natural solutions.

1. For starters, be sure you are getting seven to nine hours of sleep every night.

2. What you eat counts! Eat a healthy, balanced diet, drink plenty of water, and make sure you are getting all your vitamins and minerals. Be sure to get plenty of fruits and vegetables, especially cabbage, spinach, and other leafy greens. Eat at least 2 cups of organic fresh spinach everyday. Additionally, eat a handful of raw almonds (unsalted and unroasted) between meals. Avoid salty foods, as salt causes the body to retain water, which equals bloating and puffiness that is particularly noticeable under the eye.

3. Asian pear is a juicy and crunchy fruit that has long been prized by Chinese herbalists as a way to lighten under-eye circles. Asian (or Fuji) pears are packed with copper and vitamin C, antioxidant nutrients that help protect you from cellular damage caused by free radicals. When free radicals damage enough skin cells, signs of aging begin to appear. Copper is an essential component of superoxide dismutase (SOD), an enzyme that attacks these harmful agents when they enter the body via air pollution and other toxins.

4. Treat your skin while you sleep. Just before bed, lightly wet a washcloth with cold water and place over your eyes as you sleep. By morning, you should see an improvement.

5. Apply cucumber slices or cool tea bags to your eyes. Cucumber slices are famous for their ability to reduce puffiness, and the tannin in tea bags has been found to reduce swelling and discoloration. Lie down, close your eyes, and place fresh cucumber slices or cool, damp caffeinated tea bags over your eyes for about ten minutes every day.

6. Gently apply almond oil under your eye every morning and evening until you see improvement.

7. New skin-care technology has become available through years of intensive research; it is now possible to find creams and other products that can help you combat under-eye circles. A product I suggest is an all-natural anti-aging eye cream that lightens dark circles under the eye. For more information, click here.

8. Avoid smoking, as it causes vascular problems that not only threaten your health, but also make your blood vessels appear more prominent under the skin.

Treating your skin will help, but there may also be an underlying cause. Imbalances in your life show up on your face and skin. You may consider seeing a doctor of Oriental Medicine to uncover the root imbalance and improve your overall health.

I hope you will take these tips and put your best face forward. I invite you to visit often and share your own personal health and longevity tips with me.

I was told by a make up person under eye darkness is caused by poor circulation. Try gently massaging the area morning & night. If it is circulation, avoiding caffiene and drink plenty of water should help too.

Hi D.:
You are a hard working person and most of us are sleep deprived - which doesn't help our health or our beauty! Yes, eating a healthy diet of foods and drinking plenty of water, plus getting as much rest as possible is necessary for your health and for keeping up with your son!

I use some great products that have helped me and soooo many other women with reducing dark, puffy circles. Moisturizer is key and a good concealer too. But you must be careful about the ingredients in your products. Cheap products will not only look that way, but may discolor when exposed to air and the chemical reaction of your skin's acidity. Plus, many products are made with animal by-products and you DON'T want to put that on your skin. Many have chemicals, alcohol, mineral oil, etc. which are all known to make matters worse - even with respect to your health!

If you would like more information on some really good, long lasting pure products that work, email me and I will send you some information. These products are only sold on the internet as they are of much higher quality and standards than any OTC brand - no matter what name it says on it!

I'd be happy to be of help to you!

Some of us have dark under-eye circles no matter how much sleep we get! I am having decent luck with a Physicians Forumula product http://www.physiciansformula.com/ProductDetail/face/conce...
which is inexpensive. I am only using the yellow correcter, and covering with a powder foundation, since the cover cream step didn't do much for me. Next I will try this one

I tried one of their solid/stick yellow concealers and was not as happy with it.

Hi, I have been struggling for a good concealer for almost 25 years!!! I finally found one I really like. It is called Coverblend by Exuviance. I buy it at Ulta and it is about $16.00 a tube, and worth every penny. You use such a SMALL amount, a tube lasts probably about 9 months. I use it every day and have been most satisfied!

Hi D.,
I would suggest TimeWise Targeted-Action Eye Revitalizer by Mary Kay. It is a great product that battles the many causes of under eye circles (environmental exposure, irritants, aging & excess melanin) It takes about 2 weeks to see a difference, it is important to remember that the circles did not appear overnight so they will not disappear overnight :) Mary Kay also has a 100% satisfaction guarantee, so if you are not satisfied with the results you can return or exchange the product no questions asked. If you are interested in this product please visit my website at www.marykay.com/mjones80162 I offer free shipping or delivery on all orders. Hope this helps! Pink Hugs - MJ

I have the same problem. What I do for a quick fix and WAY CHEAP!Is the inside of the potaoe skin. Peel it with a peeler so its really thin. If its not thin it wont stay on your frace. If i know im going out somewhere nice I will do this. Put the inside of the potatoe skin on the part of your eye that you dont want to dark or puffy. I like to shape the skins to the shape of my under eye, well try. This way i dont have a bunch of pieces on my face. I leave them on there until they are dry and vwalla. you can feel the skin shrinking as you are wearing it. My kids get a good laugh when i do this. Also DRINK WATER this helps a LOT. I even try to have a glass right before i go to bed. It helps so much even with my achy knees. haha. ahhh the joys of getting older. I hope this helps. and if you get any other tips that might work please post them and let us all know.
GOOD LUCK

The dark circles are most likely coming from a lack of B vitamins. Based on your bio, your busy lifestyle would tell me that a good, balance B vitamin would help you convert you food to energy as well. Cover ups to cover the dark circles are good as a band aid, getting food with more B's or supplementing with extra B vitamins ( which all women in child bearing age should be taking anyway..... a good multi would also help a little I think you might need some additional as well) would be getting to the root of the problem.

Hope this helps in understanding the need to take good care of YOU. We women seem to neglect ourselves...

I swear by Benefit's Eye Brightener stick. You swipe a little on your dark circles and it reflects light so that they virtually disappear. I also choose to apply concealer over it to finish the look, but this step is not necessary. Try one out and play with it! You can pick them up at Sephora or on-line. It is a little pricey but I've had mine for over a year and I use it pretty much every day. It lasts forever : )

If you really want to get rid of them it is an allergy to foods and others. get to an allergist find out what you are allergic to and stop eating those foods. You can do all three kinds of testing to help find what the culprit is. RAST test is a blood test, SPT is the skin prick test but it is more for anaphalatic foods and environmental allergies and then patch testing which is the new up and coming and really the way to go for foods however they are not all 100% accurate always. At our age it is best to see how you feel after a certain food. If you eat wheat and get dirreah then pull the wheat. If you eat milk products and get stomach ache or tiredness then take put the milk. If at all you can pull the top 8 allergiens from your diet and see how the circles go from that and then add a food back every two weeks if no reaction comes back if you hav a reaction wait a month before adding a new food back.
good luck

Hi D.. I hope you get some good suggestions, because I could use some help too. Early this year, I was walking through a higher-end Dept Store and was offered a "quickie" and free eye make-up update by Clinique. They used an under-eye concealer on me and it was astounding how much better I looked (even my husband noticed the change). Of course I purchased it. But, I swear, I just can't do it myself at home! Good luck!!

I have the same problem. If I were stranded on a desert island and had one make-up choice, it's the one I would take!

Lancome's photogenic

It's a little pricy but it lasts for about 3 months. They have several shades to match your skin. Easy to apply. And, many times they have a freebie offer - buy $30.00 in product (which stinks because buying the eye make-up is ALWAYS under the "minimum buy" so I purchase two at a time and usually get a free seasonal make-up kit w/ a small mascara, lip stick, eye shadow and make-up bag. Hope this helps.

It sounds like you have allergy shiners which indicate that you have food allergies. I had this and my son as well. We went to a Dr. who eliminates allergies - an NAET practitioner (www.naet.com) and he found our allergies and started eliminating them. He had told us what our under-eye circles meant. I found when I stopped eating the foods I was allergic to, my circles did not even appear in the morning - when they were at their worst. My son's are completely gone - and they were prevalent.

I hadn't realized that I was allergic to sugars, preservatives, dairy, corn and wheat.

So that bottom line that I learned is that you can try covering up things all you want, but if you get to the bottom of the problem - it sure helps MUCH MUCH more in the long run. Because you can still tell (I think) that someone has the undereye circles even with the best coverups.
