Being a dentist--I am very good friends with the tooth fairy. I have heard some kids get upwards of five dollars for a single tooth! I think that's too much. I recommend a dollar or two. Go to the bank and get some gold dollar coins. They are more unusual and seem more special than the ratty old dollar they see in your wallet every day. Also check with the other parents at his school and get in agreement with them about the going rate. That's where he will compare and report that "Tommy got TEN dollars for HIS tooth." Also, I tell children that if their tooth isn't clean and has cavities in it, the tooth fairy only pays a nickel--it's good incentive to get them to brush every day. And the tooth fairy either gives their teeth to new babies or puts them in the sky to make stars, that's why they have to be clean. Have fun--this is a great age!
