Ok here goes! I am having the hardest time losing weight. I have gained about 15lbs in the last year. I am now trying really hard to watch what I eat, and have really been good about eating vegetables and fruit, and cutting down on pop, and the empty calories. I have lost 6 lbs in 4 weeks. Just so frusterated!!

What can I do next?

Well, hi there, T.!! I am proud of you too. Six pounds in a month is actually a healthy loss. You'll be apt to keep it off since you are going slowly.
I just lost 25 pounds this past year. It took a lot of work but so well worth it.
I believe so strongly in VFL.com. It's a great way to keep track of what you're eating, the exercise you're doing be it housework or actual working out.
This is my website: http://tinamccomb.stayinhomeandlovinit.com
Now, this is my website for the opportunity end of it. But on there you can go to the "get more info" area and put your info in and I'll personally call you and share how the VFL.com works. It's such a great program. I've done other programs in the past and they cost so much and I didn't get that much out of it. This one is just amazing and LOTS of people are able to lose weight using this system. Don't worry, no crazy foods you have to buy. You will be shopping from your local grocery store.
Good luck!!!

What other things are you doing with your day? Do you stay home? Can you squeeze in 2-3 sessions of walking for 10 minutes each? I would say incorporating exercise is going to be how you will get the last 15 lbs off and keep them off.

I know of a site that is not only for weight loss/management, but also for health management, cholesterol, etc. If you'd like to know more I will share the information with you.

I also think that is great!! I have gained that and probally more in that last year, but I never step on the scale. The last few pounds are the hardest so keep up the good work. Walk a few more steps every day. Take the stairs when you can and on nice days get the family and go for a walk. The nice days are getting fewer and fewer...I think that it might be Winter!!
Again CONGRATS!

Congratulations on 6 lbs. I've been doing weightwatchers and have at least been maintaining for the last 2 months. I've hit a point where I need to increase my exercise level in addition to watch my intake. i don't know how much you do now, but from what I've learned at the WW mtgs, that exercise and intake run congruently and you can eat extremely healthy, but if not get a level that you need for activity it doesn't matter a whole lot, you'll just be kind of stagnant.

Also, they said you don't want to lose much more than 2 lbs/week because it can be unhealthy for your metabolism. That 1st huge loss you make is normal and generally mostly water weight that you'd be retaining from starchy foods. It then slows down to a more reasonable pace.

I know that it's hard to be patient and diligent, but hang in there, you'll make it.

Eat whatever you would normally eat, but before you start, throw 25% of it away. And then walk as much as you can. Park further away, take the steps, get up and walk for 5 minutes a few times a day. Every step counts! Good job on 6, I'm stuck on 4.

I was overweight for a long time after years of being severely underweight. What I found that worked for me was not undereating but eating right and skipping between meal snacks. What really got my weight off was walking. I put the baby in the stroller everyday and walked my neighborhood for 1/2 hour. You will plateu. That is when it gets frustrating but you have to increase your exercise to get over that hump. I have a few extra lbs on now after my second child though because it isn't as easy to get out with 2 kids. It does take awhile for the lbs to start melting off but keep at it. I have heard that it can take 6 weeks after that first major loss to make a difference so keep it up you only have a couple of weeks to go. Also remember that if you are exercising muscle weighs more than fat so try to focus on the way clothes fit rather than your actual weight. You need to build muscle first and muscle burns fat. Good luck. It sounds like you are on the right track!!

It sounds to me like you are actually doing pretty good!!! 6 pounds in 4 weeks is actually a good healthy amount to lose. I know that when i was trying to lose weight i lost 40 lbs by just cutting my meals sizes in half and drinking more water. seriously just take the serving amount that you would normally take of each item then cut it down the middle. Eat only that half and drink water with your meal. Also try paying attention to your body's cues of hunger and thirst. Sometimes we eat when we really just need to drink something. Eating slower will help you to know when your body is full. And only eat until you are comfortable alot of times we eat so fast that we don't pay attention to our body and end up over eating even if it is healthy stuff!! I hope this helps.

congratulations!! 6lbs!!
that's more than i have lost in over 2 years..hahah
and that's almost half way to the 15lbs..
usually when it's a little amount that needs to be lost,, especially after loosing a lot at the beginning(not that you are in this category), but the last few lbs are the hardest. so if you are starting at only needing to loose 15,,your body may be trying to keep a hold of it and may take longer/harder.. but i think it's awesome that you have lost 6lbs.. so what if it was in 4 weeks..
isn't that the correct rate of loss anyway? not sure, i'm sure someone will know that..
but i think it's a great job! :-)
more will power than i have..hahaa

I know how you feel on this matter.. I have been watching what i eat and i only buy fat free or low fat things and not buying any bad foods. I eat alot of veggy's and fat free dip. That's my snack food. I drink alot of milk or water and the only soda i will drink is deit. I can't lose weight for nothing. I can't get into working out alone but running up and down my stairs i think is a pretty good work out, so i just make up reason's to go upstairs. We have 2 bathrooms and i will run upstairs to use that one then down here. I also have a 5 year old so, i am always running after her little butt..lol. In the summer time we like to take bike rides but in the winter months its hard to do stuff like that here in Iowa..lol..

I would love any idea's anyone has for me to help.. Look forward to hearing from someone

Hi T.!

I know what you mean! I struggled for quite some time with the pounds that I needed to lose (still need to go about 5 to 10 more) but what helped me was a company called Arbonne. They have wonderful protein shakes and an orange fiber shake that I use as a meal replacement (I also add in other ingredients like skim milk, fruit, vanilla yogurt, peanut butter, oatmeal, etc. ~ I've got some wonderful recipes to share) and they really do fill me up and satisfy me. I especially LOVE their new energy drink which is so much better for me than soda or other energy drinks like Red Bull or Monster. It speeds up my metabolism and suppresses my appetite! Everyone I've shared these with has purchased them!

Another trick that I couldn't live without is their Weight Loss Chews! Just like popping in a Starburst or Tootsie Roll, but one that, again, suppresses my appetite and increases my metabolism.

What was encouraging to me as well is that these products are all formulated without animal products or by-products so they are certified vegan. They are kosher, too!

Of course excercise is critical; I try to do anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes 5 to 6 days a week.

Because I loved the products so much and they made such a difference to me, I began a business with Arbonne. I would be happy to share more information with you or send you some free samples so you could "try before you buy". Know that Arbonne does have a 45-day money-back guarantee so it's no risk to you at all!

I'd love to see what you think...drop me a line if you'd like!

Have a wonderful day!
L. G

It sounds slow, but you are doing the right thing! 6 lbs in 4 wks is great! If you lose faster than that, you are likely to damage your metabolism, thyroid and to gain it back. Keep it up and you'll get there! Throw something in when you hit a plateau, like an exciting new workout!

I have lost 38 pounds in the last year. I didnt really diet cause i knew for me diets just dont work. I decided to watch what I ate. I slowed my eating down and i was told my a friend to eat with my left hand ( im a righty) because we are less cordinated it takes longer to eat. And also to put your fork down with each bite makes you eat slower. I also increased the water intake. I was just careful on what and mostly HOW much i ate and ate slowly. But if i wanted to eat a ice cream, or a cookie, i did.. I just would drink more water and be more careful for the rest of the day. Loosing 6 pounds is awesome!!! Just keep it up and dont give up! you can do it!!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

I am overweight, and pregnant and like my first pregnancy have gestational diabetes which means i have to REALLY pay attention to what I eat. Immeadiately when i found out i was pregnant I switched my diet to follow something resembling the adkins/meets weight watchers.. basically lower in carbs around 150 to 180 or less a day * which for a normal adult diet is lower than average* yet not depriving myself of whole grains like 100% whole wheat breads and pastas.*which process differently in your system when it comes to surgars and carbs than white breads and pastas not wheat bread but 100% whole wheat bread. there is a difference becuase the whole wheat is the TRUE wheat bread and wheat bread is only a percentage wheat and then mostly white. Try to limit your carbs to about 30 carbs to a snack about 2 to 3 snacks a day.. and try to limit your meals to about 60 carbs per meal on the carb counting any gram of fiber can be subtracted from the total amount of carbs.. for example the total carbs listed on one slice of sarah lee 100 % whole wheat bread is 13 per slice however there are two grams of fiber therefore the total carb intake for that slice of bread is really 11 . you could have potentially for a lunch have a cheese sandwhich and a can of chicken noodle soup and not laps passed the 60 carb marker easily. I have lost over 30 lbs on this "DIET" I am a FREAK for Dairy products which have been the hardest to leave.. so I go to products like BLUE BUNNY CARB CONTROL the blackberry cream is the best between that and the strawberry.. they only have 5 carbs and its 10 ounces of yummy goodness.. another thing to keep in mind is the amount of carbs and fat.. more importantly fat.. even though you should take it easy on the carbs becuase those are what give us energy if you still eat a lot of fat that is not going to do much for you either unless you are expending that fat and carb given energy so walking is always good.. even if it means you are making an unecessary trip to the mall to paruse the stores for 30 to 45 minutes.. that counts for you and will help to balance out those sugars especially when you have decided to splurge on a meal and might feel some guilt. Another thing to focus on is the amount of food you eat.. Smaller meals have been proven to speed the metabolism. For example today I had 2 eggos for breakfast each are about 11 carbs with some butter and probably what amounted to be about half a teaspoon of low carb syrup and a glass of milk (about 11 carbs for the milk) my total breakfast I went about 40 carbs.. a little over my diet but i had done some excersize so no biggie for me.. then I had a cheese sandwhich as a snack and for lunch I had a meatball hot pocket from the grocery store.. it was a bigger size hot pocket and had about 44 carbs in it and then i had a vault zero which has no carbs. then for a snack I had a carb control which is 5 carbs and for dinner i will be having 2 corn dogs and some unsweetened iced tea.. each corn dog has 25 carbs so my last meal of the day will be 50 carbs so my total carb intake for the day soo far is about 134 carbs which is really awesome.. I have not gone hungry i generally dont go hungry or deprive myself of variety...and i will have another snack before i go to bed.. this one will be lower in carbs for the day since i will be going to bed shortly after.. these of course are all suggestions.. but it has worked for me

I've been overweight for as long as I can remember. I pushed myself to lose weight in 2004, then became pregnant in 2005 and put that weight right back on. It was frustrating- it still is 9 months later! One thing that helped me lose the 50 lbs before was water and the absence of soda-whether it be diet or regular. I quit cold turkey, so to speak...and it helped. Alot. It sounds like you're doing that- so just keep it up. Like mama use to say- it didn't get there overnight, it's not going to disappear overnight! :) You'll get there! You're off to a great start with 6lbs. in a month- it may not seem like much- but it is! Don't give up! You can do it!
