Iron out is really good, just be careful to not breathe it in, and not use around children. I have really hard water in lockport, and it all comes out.
Hello ladies, I have a problem with some yellow stains and hard water deposits, on the bottom of the toilet, where the water sits and comes in to the toilet. The special cleaners for water deposits and lime don't work. I think it's because they get disolved in the water and they are not as strong anymore. They would need to be applied directly to the stain, without the water being there, but how do I get rid of the water? Any advice?
Thank you for all your help. I tried The Works. It was only $1.00 for a bottle and it worked like magic, with the water still in the toilet !!!! Thank you !

Hi Yvette! I had the same problem and I found that The Works is the best. It got rid of the stains on the first try and you don't even have to get the water out of the toilet. I've only found it at Menards though. Good luck!!
Piece of cake. First, turn off the water supply to the toilet, which will be a small knob on the pipe coming out of the wall and going to the toilet. Second, flush toliet. After flushing, there will be a small amount of water remaining in the bottom of the bowl. To remove this water, a wet-dry vac is the easiest way to go; if you don't have one, you can use old towels/rags. Good luck!
If you actually want to drain the water out of your toilet so that you can clean it, you just need to turn the water off to your toilet. Look behind your toilet and see if there is a little hose coming from it that goes into the wall. A lot of times there is a little knob there and you can turn the water off. Then, flush your toilet and the water will drain out. You may have to flush twice. Then it would be empty and you could put cleaner directly in there and scrub. When you are done, just turn the water back on and you will hear the toilet tank start to fill up again. flush to get water back in your toilet bowl.
Hi Yvette,
I also use The Works. Avaiable at WalMart and very cheap and EFFECTIVE.
My mom taught me this trick! No need to turn off the water! Just take a mop buckent full of water and dump it in the toilet bowl. For some reason this activates the flushing but not the refill. Clean your toilet how you want with out excess water. Then flush the toilet and it will refill! Presto!
Good luck...
flush the toliet and then immerdietly turn off the water with the knob on the back bottom of the toilet. The water will only fill up a little. Then add the works toilet bowl cleaner. It smells horrible so open the wondow or use a fan. Let it sit for awhile then scrub. I know, it is horrible! Good luck!

AJAX! It does wonders and its inexpensive. You don't have to turn off the water or scoop it out. Just sprinkle it in there and let it do its magic for about 5 minutes and then let the bowl have it with a brush. Flush and WALA!
Use a shop-vac to suck out the water. Also works when you have toys that just happen to flush themselves down the toilet.
You can do one of two things. You can take your toilet brush and "push" the water out of the bowl (by actually pushing the water through that drain opening) or you can shut off the water valve and flush the toilet (so nothing can refill).
Take an old towel and dry the inside of the toilet and then add the lime cleaners.
Hope that helps!!
I don't know about letting the water out, but I do know that The Works toilet cleaner worked great for me.
We just moved into an old house that is on well and septic. The toilets were horrible when we moved in. My husband bought Kaboom toilet cleaners that fit into the tank and the cartridge gets replaced every three months. What a difference! Also, if you have a water softener they make rust remover salt that we put in once a week which helps keep the rust out of the water which means there is less to stain the toilet.Good Luck.
"The Works" toilet bowl cleaner will get all of that crud out! I used it when I taught at a farm school that had well water. Every Monday morning I'd have to clean the yellow out of the bottom of the toilet and "The Works" is what did it! hope that helps!
Ah...toilet stains. Put on your rubber gloves, scoop the water out of the toilet (using a disposable cup or something similar that you only use for cleaning)and pour down it down the sink. Once the water is gone, you can apply your cleaning products.
I can recommend a REALLY heavy-duty cleaning product...you have to be soooo careful though, especially with little kids in the house. It's called "Zep" acidic toilet bowl cleaner and you can buy it at Home Depot.
It really is acidic, so I would not even recommend having it in your house unless you have a completely childproof place to store it. Also, you do not want it to touch your skin!
Toilet bowl cleaner called SnoBol works wonders on rust stains and any other kind of stain. We have a well and I actually use this not only in the toilet but use it first when cleaning the tub and sink then rinse really well and then continue with the regular tub and sink cleaner. You can actually watch the rust stain disappear.
Also if you like your current cleaner what I sometimes do to get rid of the water is either turn the water off(below the tank)and flush the toilet or get a large bucket and dump the water(all at once) in the toilet just before it overflows not sure why it works but it will empty the bowl with little water left in it without flushing.

Unfortunately this may be something in your water and you may want to get a filter...OR you may have to replace the rusty old insides of your toilet. You may want to consult a plumber.
Try sprinkling baking soda around the rim, then put vineager on it, hopefully it will break it down. Give it a good scrubbing and don't be suprised by the fizzing, it's supposed to do that. =)
get yourself one of those yellow gloves (up to the elbow) and a styrofoam cup. stick the cup down the hole, fill it up with toilet water and pour it down the sink. repeat until the toilet has no water in it. discard the cup when finished in a proper trash receptacle. do not re-use cup. ha ha.
As everyone has already stated, you must get the water level as low as possible and then clean the toilet. You must use something on a daily basis to assist you with keeping the toilet clean especially if your toilets are used all day long. I use the blue 2000 flushes with beach as a daily cleaner. I would suggest you clean the toilet at the end of the day as well; this should stop any future build up!
There is a product called Wink that you can purchase. Squirt above the water line and it will run down and get rid of the rust. Buy this at the grocery store or a hardware store. The stuff is really good but it is an acid so use caution!
