I've heard that diet can sometimes affect that. I don't know if it's true, but maybe you want to look into that.
Please help--I am having a problem with my 17 month-old son's feet. It seems like no matter which shoes he is wearing his feet end up smelling TERRIBLE. He wears mostly sandals these days and has several pair that we rotate. Washing them doesn't seem to help for long. At home he goes barefoot most of the time so it's only when we are out that I notice it. Neither I nor my husband have this problem so I'm not sure what to do about it!
Thank you all for your great advice. I mixed tea tree oil with baking soda and put it in some socks which I am keeping in his shoes in-between wearing. It does seem to be working. I am going to try the freezer idea also :)

my son has the same issue - i use a spray with tea tree in it and it helps alot. i also spray it on his shoes when he is not wearing them. there are a number of foot deodorants on the market but i don't like to use anything chemical on my little ones.
My little guy has smelly feet/shoes too. If he wears socks with his sandals it helps a lot - not very fashionable but helps keep the sand/woodchips out too. Dr. Oz (on Oprah) said if you soak your feet in warm water with tea bags in it, your feet won't smell. I haven't tried it with my little guy - not sure if it is safe...but maybe there's a grown up out there with the same problem who wants to give it a try.
we have also found that to be a problem with cheaper shoes...they seem to get pretty stinky especially in the summer. maybe buy a little more expensive shoe??
I've noticed two brands of shoes that don't get stinky.
Doc Martens
Crocs
Other than that I'd try a leather shoe maybe go to stride ride and wear socks. Apply babypowder in the shoe every once in awhile and see if that helps.
Try putting some baking soda in an old sock and put it in his shoes when he's not wearing them. (Hey, it works for tuna in the fridge, it'll work for shoes, right? LOL)
When he does wear them, put a little baby powder in before his feet. :)
My boys had this issue and once in a while, I do, too, and it works really well for them (and me).
