Hi Mamas-

It has been forever since we had a vacation -- and our last vacations were coming here to visit family. Now that we're here and with family all the time, we're ready to have a real live 'vacation'. We're looking at spending a weekend in San Antonio to go to Sea World and see the Alamo, etc., and then heading to the Gulf for a few days, either directly after or as a separate mini-vacation. I have some questions:

I'm looking at Sea World, and thinking 2 days would be a good time for the park. There is a multi-day pass we can get, and we'd like to swim with the sea lions and breakfast with the dolphins also. I'm wondering if any of you have been there, and what you think -- is 2 days enough time? Too much? We're heading down on a Friday, and heading out Monday evening, and I thought we could spend Monday touring San Antonio, and the weekend at the park. Any tips or ideas?

Also, I am completely clueless about Gulf vacations. I just know it's been years since I've been near saltwater, and it's time to correct that! We're thinking maybe Galveston or Corpus, or maybe North Padre (we don't want too crowded or 'spring break' though). If anybody knows neat places to stay or has ideas, I'd love to hear them!

Thank you!

HI, I am a mom of four but when we took our San antonio/ N. parde trip. We took the oldest three, they were 12,8 and 3. we did the Alamo and river walk one day and Sea world the next. We olny spent one day there, we had done the behind the scene tour, the long one. It was great the kids really enjoyed it we saw the baby orka and feed the sea lions and and VIP seating for the orka show I recommend that tour you also get a wrist band to jump the line on all the major roller coasters. We went when the water park wasn't open, but we have been when it was and if your little ones like the water then you could spend a whoile day there. So you could easily spend two days there, on the other hand you can do it all in one long day. After that we drone to chorpus/n. Padre we did the USS Lexington and the Aqurium, The Ship the kids liked but the aqurium they didn't seem to enjoy (after sea world who would) we stayed at the Holiday Inn off the beach it was great we had a balcony and the kids went to the beach it was awesome. Email me if ya want to know more ____@____.com good luck and have fun

Ali,
Seaworld is amazing!!! Just a word of advice, if you can afford it. Upgrade your ticket to the VIP. You never stand in line for any ride, you get special behind the scenes opportunites, and you even can do the Shamu breakfast. Way neat!!!

I am not sure about the last for the Gulf Vacation. I grew up down there but everything has changed so much. YOu could contact the chamber of commerce for each area and ask them for local specials and fun things to do!

Have a great vacation!

We went to SA last year as our big vacation. My daughter was 1 1/2 at the time. We stayed at the Hotel Contessa on the Riverwalk so we could spend a lot of time there. That was very convenient because we could walk to restaurants or shops.

We only spent one day at Sea World and did not have enough time or energy to do it all! The park is divided into the animal section and the water park section. We only planned for the animal section and it was just huge. Plan to do a ton of walking -- I didn't wear comfortable enough shoes and ended up with blisters. The shows were nice because you could get out of the sun and rest a bit with a snack. I would think you could spend several days there and still have lots to do. At least two sound right to me.

Have fun on your vacation!

Hi Ali,
We were at Sea World 6 months ago and 2 days were great. We got the 2 day pass (it's cheaper than 2 - 1 day passes). You will need to call in advance to reserve the breakfast b/c it is popular - if you wait until you get there, like we did, then you won't be able to do the breakfast. Enjoy and take lots of photos! Be prepared to spend LOTS of money on water at the park b/c you can not bring it in. With the heat and walking, the 5 of us needed lots of water.
There is alot to do in San Antonio - the Riverwalk is a must! Along with the Alamo. One day probably isn't enough - we spent 3 days and still did not see everything.
Enjoy,
A.

I think 2 days for Sea WOrld is perfect. We went this past April and spent 6-7 hours per day at the park. I would tour San Antonio on the weekend, though, and use Monday for the park. This lines will be so much shorter.
