Hello Moms! We are close to being ready to put our house on the market and we are in need of a good realtor who will get this place sold. What are the main things we should look for in a realtor? Any tips would be greatly appreciated and welcomed since both my husband and I have only been on the buying side. Also, feel free to recommend any hard-working, faster selling realtors you may know! Thank you all for your help.

The key to selling in this market is pricing. If you are realistic with price when listing your home you won't end up like SO many people having to lower their price 2 or 3 times with the house on the market 6 months or more.
It's also very important to have your home in selling condition and staged correctly. When listing homes I pay to have a professional consultation with a stager. It is very important. To make your home stand out from the rest.
I would love to talk to you about how I can help you sell your home.

When we moved here ten years ago we used Tamara O'Connor in Elgin to buy a house. Then when we moved to Huntley five years ago we used her again to sell our house. The market was getting more difficult and she went the extra mile to get our house sold in time. I mean the extra mile!!! She has kept in touch with us over the years. She had Santa at her office this past December and we took our kids to have their pictures taken. She put them on CD for us and mailed them to the house. Her motto is that she wants to be your realtor for life. And she means it. She's skilled and informed.

My husband is a realtor in McHenry. I know first hand that he works very hard. He'll go above and beyond to sell your house. My suggestion would be to interview a few realtors and decide which one you are most comfortable with. You can view his website at http://www.realtorshawn.com or http://www.GetTheDreamTeam.com. He has a "Top 10 things to ask your realor" - if you would like him to send it to you, he would be happy to.
We used Lisa Sweeney with Century 21 - 1st class in Schaumburg. She covers a lot of the area.

She was recommeded to us from 3 different set of friends... 2 of them used her twice. She's honest and works with you to meet your needs - She does not promise the world. For one of my friend she uses Lisa as a resources when her cousin went through a custody battle with her dad. Lisa always answered her questions and would call around to her contacts (lawyers, inspectors, etc) if she needed to gather more info for my friend.
We have only used Leini Teetsov with

For a number of the houses we have either built and sold or rehabbed and sold. She is wonderful Realtor and just a wonderful person in general. She has been a Realtor for over 25 years and has a great reputation.
To choose a the right Realtor for you, first I would ask friends or as you done her ask other people. Second call the company and set up an appointment to met with the Realtor to see if they are someone you would like to work with and to also find out what their commission rates are. Also how they would advertise your house and how many open houses would they have for you. In other words how they would get your house sold. Note that now realtor will guarantee you anything but by look at the number house they have sold in the last couple years give you a good idea of how good or poor they are at selling homes.
You could also try to sell it on your own. Remember the market place is really tight right now. You may not get what you would like to get for your house because it is a buyers market. Check what other houses in your neighborhood have sold their houses for. There is no such thing a Realtor that will sell your house faster than another. It is up to the buyers, if they are interested. But there is Realtor s that will do more for you than others. Lastly go in to www.realtor.com and see what in on the market in your area. I bet you will be surprised how many house are on the market right now. Everybody is selling and no one is really buying. :(
That is my suggestions.
Good Luck,
S.
