Maybe get one of those travel plastic soap containers that you can put a full bar of soap in. Any small plastic tub would work really. Put a few in that and then put it in a zip bag. That way it can't accidently get crushed or anything.
I am wondering if the Tide Pods will burst when in luggage in the bottom of a plane. We are going on vacation and I'm thinking that would be a great way to take laundry soap with us, but I don't want liquid detergent all over my stuff when I get to my destination. Yes, we can buy them when we get there, but I hate to buy a whole package when I know we'll only use about 4 of them!!
Thanks,
M.

Just did, double ziplocked them just in case. They came out of it just fine. If you're worried about them getting smooshed (not just pressure), then put them in a plastic pencil box or something like that....with a ziplock too ;).
I don't imagine they would... My shampoo bottles and such never have. Maybe pack them in a double-layered ziplock bag just in case?
Buy the individual travel packets of detergent either before you leave or when you get to where you are going.
We have flown with them anytime we fly, never a problem, we do place them in a ziploc bag. My mom is the one that always has them in her luggage, I just asked her, she says she has never had a problem, She also says she keeps them in ziploc bags in her luggage,
Anything pre-packaged like this (laundry pods, dishwasher pods, 100 calorie snacks…) is way more expensive anyway. I am so concerned by all the reports of children and pets getting into them, I won't support the company anyway by buying them.
I'd either just buy something there - any laundromat will sell small packs of detergent - or I'd buy a slightly larger container and leave the remainder for the next tenant. How muc laundry are you actually planning to do on vacation anyway? Whenever I've rented a house, there has been a supply in the laundry room, or if I need to purchase, I leave my leftovers. If I've stayed in a hotel and needed something like Woolite for hand washing, I leave what's left for the housekeeping staff. Someone can surely use what I leave behind.
In the grand scheme of things, once you pay for vacation rentals and airfare, what's $2.99 for a small bottle of detergent?
I'd buy when I get there. You can buy small portions from a laundry mat or hotel service.
Other than that a ziploc should do the trick!!
Put them in a ziplock bag.
Call me crazy.
Why not just buy a small bottle of liquid laundry soap when you get there?
I ALWAYS take Tide Pods with us when we travel. I put them in a Ziploc bag and have never had an issue. This is being jammed in a suitcase and driven or flown - even took them on the cruise ship with no issue.
We prefer these because the kids have no problem washing with them and we can also just toss one in the laundry bag and then throw it in with the clothes. It just makes our life easier.
Never had any issue with our kids thinking they were candy either. When I mentioned that to them they looked at me like I had 10 heads. They have all been using them for several years now, so the youngest was likely 4-5 when he started.
i try to keep my luggage as light as possible, so this would definitely be something i'd buy when i get there. unless you're going somewhere really wild, you can almost certainly get travel-sized containers there. for me it's worth the little bit of extra money.
if you really want to take your own, why not just put 'em in a ziplock?

I've taken them and had no problem. I did put them in a ziploc bag inside of another ziploc bag just in case.
