There is this stuff that you can put on her thumb that tastes soooo badly that she won't want to put her thumb in her mouth anymore. My daughter tried to start thumbsucking when she was 2. I put that stuff on her and after she spit, drooled and gagged for a couple of days, she quit. It comes in a clear bottle, not sure what it's called, but you just brush it on her thumb and you should see results soon.

My pediatrican recommended putting tobasco sauce on the thumb. This worked for my son who was still sucking his thumb at 7 years of age!

At night, having socks over her hands (long enough to not fall off) works well.

Good luck!

I've heard of this natural oil that you can put on their fingers to get them to stop. It is non-toxic but tastes nasty to discourage them. It supposedly dries quickly and is rather effective. I'm not sure of the name of it but you may be able to do an internet search. Hope this helps.

A., What we did was bought the thumb its. I am not sure that you can still buy it. But putting anything that taste bad will work. Vinager, Vanilla, hot stuff. Just don't put anything on that will hurt them. Good luck!!!! Do rewards if they don't do it. soetimes that what we have to do.

walgreens has a liquid that you can put on the thumb that leaves a taste on the tongue like sour or bitter. i originally bought it because my son was biting his nails then i used it on my daughter because she was sucking her thumb at 8 months. she quickly learned that she didn't like that taste. If that doesn't work the dentist office my kids visit has a plastic thumb cover to prevent continued thumb sucking, I didn't look to see the brand sorry.
