I have been diagnosed with Thoracic Outlet after a clot with some vein damge. They have decided not to do the surgery and said to go to physical therapy for the possible third rib and have kept me on coumidin and I want off of it.. I am wondering if anyone else suffers from thoracic outlet and how they are combatting the issue.

What can I do next?

This is definitely not a question that lay people can answer. Did your doctor not tell you about treatment? Go back to him and get your answer.

My 26 year old son was just diagnosed with it and my 63 year old sister has it. Physical Therapy and continual specific exercises seem to take care of it.

My DH had Thoracic Outlet when we were training hard for whitewater racing, although his never got bad enough to cause clots. He was able to address it with a good stretching regimen and a good massage therapist. Good luck.

I don't know anything about this syndrome but you need to keep taking the coumadin. It doesn't break up the clot, it just prevents it from getting bigger an prevents new clots from forming. Its important to get your weekly tests done and that you're in a therapeutic range. This is important b/c (eventhough i don't know about this syndrome), i'm assuming you'd be at a risk for a pulmonary embolism. Sorry i don't know anymore.
