Well, we've checked out the homes in Grapevine and Flower Mound and now we're also checking homes in Keller. Does anyone have any info. you would like to share about Keller and their schools? I have children that will enter elementary within 1 year, one in middle school now and after this school year will be in high school. Any info. would be helpful. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Hi Ella- I'm a mom and teacher as well. We live on the border of Keller and Fort Worth near 170. We live in an awesome community called Saratoga on Alta Vista and 170- it's the Northwest ISD (heard great things about them) so Denton school tax and Fort Worth property taxes. Couldn't ask for anything better. They also pay well in the Northwest ISD. Keller has great schools too but high taxes. We believe we have the best of all worlds. I work for Birdville ISD- not too far away. Also a great district to work for.

I dont know about the shools yet in Grapevine but it is a awesome place to live. I have never had a problem. It is a littl expensive but it is really really worth it. I have heard alot of the kids say they like the schools.

Estrella -
I am a Realtor, and will be happy to email you my 2005 School Ratings from TEA. If you will send me your email address, I will be happy to email it to you so that you can at least compare rankings. They are both good school districts, but you can compare for yourelf, along with suggestions from other moms. Taxes are high in Keller - actually higher in Tarrant Cty, but you can also get more house for your money so it evens out. You can also go online to get the same information at http://www.tea.state.tx.us/. Just be forewarned, it's tedious to sort through! Hope this helps!!

E.,
I do not know what your home price range is, but you should look again at Grapevine. I am so glad I stayed there after my divorce! My son graduated from CHHS, and my daughter is there now. Great schools, in fact, last year the 2 Grapevine High Schools were in the top 10 in the whole country! There is a home for sale around the corner from me, and I know they remodled the kitchen - anyway, I suggest that you look again. Keller is OK, but the traffic past Grapevine to Southlake and Keller in the evenings and out of there in the mornings is HORRENDOUS!! They did not plan the roads to handle all the residents. If the cost is an issue, when your kids get out of school, you can sell your house, and make $$. The place is not bound yet, but it is coming SOON!!

Hello E.,

We just moved to Keller from Irving in May and are VERY happy. We love it here. It's a quiet, peaceful city with nice, friendly people. The school district is excellent. We have two boys who will be in 4th and 6th grades this coming school year, and we went ahead and let them finish out last school year (just one month) at their new schools so they could get used to it and meet new kids before this year. I'm so glad we did. The schools are way superior to Irving schools, and we have definitely made the right decision. I hope you will research Keller further as a possibility. Our 4th grade son goes to an exemplary elementary school ,and our 6th grade son goes to a recognized intermediate school. In Keller, elementary is grades pk-4, intermediate is 5-6 only, middle school is 7-8, and high school is 9-12. I really like the way they separate the 5th and 6th grades from elementary and from middle school. I think they need to be separated, so I like this system.

I am also interested in working from home part-time. I have been a school teacher for 3 years, but I'm currently staying at home with our 2 year old, AND we have one on the way (due in October)! So, I have my hands pretty full right now, and I would love to hear more about work-at-home opportunities. Could you email me with more info?

Thanks,
E. H

I've lived in Keller my entire life. The schools here are very good. Granted they have added quite a few since I was in school, but in all it's a really good school district.

We have lived in Keller in Hidden Lakes for about 4 years now - and absolutely love it. Hidden Lakes is almost like a mini-city of it's own - a terrific community. My twins are not yet school age yet, so I can't speak personally about the schools, but I have heard very good things about them from others. Anyway - I'd highly recommend you checking out Hidden Lakes if you haven't already.
