We went to Grease a couple weekends ago and it was great! Definitely get there early to get the best seats. Very family friendly, and you can bring your own cooler. They also did have a little concession stand too.
Has anyone gone. I see they have Bye Bye Birdie playing this weekend. Is it a good place to take kids? Also can you bring your own cooler for drinks and snacks?

I use to go all of the time, and it is pretty fun. It is like $2 per person, and at least last year, you could bring in your own food/drinks. The lawn area is in the front otherwise, bring chairs. It is a great place to take kids however, the shows get over pretty late so it depends upon their bedtime.

Theatre in the Park is a lot of fun! You can bring your own food or drinks (no alcohol) or they also have concessions there. You can bring blankets or lawn chairs--just know that they have a "blanket line" and all lawn chairs must be set up behind that line. Depending on the show they're doing, it can be a very kid-friendly place to go. Last summer we saw Beauty and the Beast 3 or 4 times, I think, because my girls are very into the Disney princesses. Some shows are a little less kid-appropriate. Ticket prices are somewhere around $5 or $6 for adults. Check out their website at www.theatreinthepark.org and I'm sure it will answer all your questions.

I have been many times and, actually, been in a few shows. It is a good place for kids, barring the heat. The problem: you have to get there as soon as the gates open so you can race in and grab a spot on the grass. You also have to bring you own chairs or a blanket. Then you wait (about an hour and a half) for the show to start. You are able to bring food, drinks, etc. as long as it's not alcoholic or in a glass container. There are concessions available.
It may be helpful to have someone go stake out a claim and then bring your kids closer to show time. If your kids are older they can play and occupy themselves after a meal. There are bathrooms but absolutely no place to get out of the heat.

Ditto on all of these responses! I took my 3 year old to see Cats this year and we had a great time. It does get over pretty late, but if your kids can hack it, it's wonderful. We're thinking we may go see Bye Bye Birdie too. Have fun!

Theater in the Park is a wonderful family outing! The performances we've seen have all been excellent. All seating is on the lawn, and they have a blanket only area up front (have to get there early). You can bring lawn chairs, coolers, snacks, etc. They also have a concession stand. And if little ones get restless, there's usually open lawn on the sides that they can run around a bit to get their energy out.
I'd suggest taking bug spray, a flashlight, and cover up blankets and jackets as it can get cool at night.
