got me thinking about deodorant. I would really like to find a deodorant without antipersperant (no aluminum, etc), that WORKS. I have tried Toms from Maine. Oh dear God I smelled worse than if I had used nothing at all. I thought I was crazy until I read the reviews.

Anyone use safe deodorant that actually works? I am looking for something not only for me but for my children.

What can I do next?

I actually use those big salt crystals and find them fairly effective most days. You do need to use them immediately after bathing, and they also make a roll-on version.

Do they still make Tussy? I used that for years. They have a non-anti-perspirant variety for sensitive skin. Don't know about the scents they have now, though.

I stopped using Tom's too, as alas, it ultimately didn't work on hot days. I did some research and found that Speed Stick by Mennen (unscented) is rated a 1 on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being worst) in terms of health by the Environmental Working Group (EWG). And it works great! Our whole family uses it now.

I use Herbal Clear Sport. It works quite well for me (and it is inexpensive) even during/after exercise. It has a light scent, nothing overpowering. Aluminum, paraben, alcohol, dye and artificial bactericide free.

unless it is a hot summer or I am being really active I find that a mixture of coconut oil, teatree oil, vit E oil, and baking soda works well as a deoderant. I mix the ingredients together in a jar and just rub a little in under my arms after my daily shower.

My daughter uses Arm & Hammer "Essentials Natural Deodorant" and it is paraben and aluminum free.
And she does not smell.
And she is a 10 year old who is very active and gets sweaty.
Can be found at any drugstore.

I didn't check the ingredients list, but my son (15) likes SpeedStick. It comes in antiperspirant/deodorant and also just deodorant (with no antiperspirant). He likes the only deodorant one, and applies it after his weightlifting class and after wrestling practices. He's going to perspire no matter what, so he uses the deodorant only.

Thanks Lee Lee S. !! Glad to know that. :)

I know that it is not ok to promote businesses....but since you asked about a completely non-toxic safe deodorant, check out Ava Anderson Non-Toxics. The ingredients are organic coconut oil, organic beeswax, organic shea butter, aluminum free baking soda (the key ingredient), organic arrowroot powder, organic tea tree oil, organic peppermint oil. It has a slight scent and works....believe me I stink. Message me if you would like more information. And of course, with those completely safe and non-toxic ingredients, its good for the kids.

My mom and sister both use (and LOVE) the crystal, but not the roll-on one, I don't use anything, so don't have any personal input.
