If you mean state income taxes, that is correct. There are several states where there is no tax on income - Nevada, Texas are 2 others and I think there are more.

Florida residents: is it true there are no state taxes if you live in Florida? I don't mean sales tax, I mean actual state tax. Thanks.
Wow! My ex-husband was right about something! :( Well, that fact might come in handy for my son. Thanks, moms!

Correct. You do not file a state income tax return. You do still have property taxes, etc...
There is no state INCOME tax in FL. There are property taxes and sales tax (which are kind of high since it is a state that relies on tourism). But, yes, it's true there is no income tax.
I'm in Texas and we don't have state income taxes either, but our property taxes are really high. Last year we paid almost $11K on a property worth $460K. I imagine Florida is the same.
Yes, there are no state taxes. There is sales tax and that differs between counties (example 6% in Santa Rosa County; higher in the Miami-Dade and Orange due to the tourism).
yeppers... that is why we pay toll booths
Our family lived in Fl for about 7 yrs until a few yrs ago. Yes, there is no state income tax, but the other taxes are high enough to off set the savings you think there will be. The cost of living at least in the Tampa/ St Pete areas is less for sure than in CA, especially housing.
We lived there years ago, and there was no state income tax. The sales tax was higher than Colorado where we had been (and was about the same as the current salex tax in California, where we now live.
This is a good link I think that tells you what all states don't have a state income tax but at the same time, mentions other taxes they might impose that you might not have or not have as high.

And, if you are dying to move to any particular state, ask their residents what things are particularly a high expense for them that you might not have elsewhere because of natural disasters (property taxes and personal taxes), extra costs for infestations (termites are a far bigger problem there than many other places I heard. I t hink some insurance companies refused to issue home insurance there. Home prices inflated, then deflated, some a lot of foreclosures and no doubt job losses in related fields, and now, their tourism and jobs world is concerned about how much of a hit they might get from the oil leak.
If you're open, you might pose another question to people who think their states are magnificent for your cost of living (your budget range (whatever age group you are) and your retirement years based on your retirement interests and health concerns.. Good luck
Correct...no personal income tax in FL...same in Texas.
State sales tax is 6% and then county taxes on top of that vary by location.
No state income taxes, but I always consider it a wash because our home owners' insurance is so much higher than other states.
No state taxes, it's glorious :)
you do still have to pay federal taxes, however.
yup, it's true! we just moved to cali from florida...ouch!
