My oldest son is in Kindergarten this year, and is loving it. He is already reading short easy (A level) books, and he also uses a TAG Reader in class. He really seems to like it alot so I was thinking about adding it to his Christmas list. What are your opinions on this product and Idea? They also make a TAG Junior that I thought might be good for my 2 year old.

My niece has the TAG and loves it. If you go to the Leapster website, you can also see the cards with facts on it. I bought her one about arctic animals and another but cannot remember which. She learned a lot from it. I am considering getting the TAG for my daughter next year.
I wish the TAG had been out when my older ones were little. They had the Leappad readers but I think the tag is more user friendly.

I would just get the tag reader and skip the junior. My son has one and he just shares with his sister. He has had his since he was four and he is about to turn six. He loves it. I like the independence it gives him. His sister loves it too. She just turned three and has been playing with it since she was barely two. THe only thing we had to watch with her is that she didn't push too hard, it really wasn't a big deal. Check the leapfrog website, they often have coupons for their stuff. And certain times a year toyrus puts leapfrog stuff on a buy two get one free offer, and I think that applies to the books as well.

We have 2 tag readers - one for our 5 year old and one for our 2 1/2 year old. The tag jr books can be read with a tag reader, but the tag junior reader cannot read tag books (only tag jr.). This way he can continue using it, even after he no longer reads the junior books.

Get them both Tag Readers. They come in green, purple and pink,

Skip the Tag Junior and just get the Tag. We bought my now 4 1/2 year old a Tag Junior but she outgrew it really quick and a year later we bought her the Tag. It's fabulous and she really likes it and it sounds like your son really enjoys sit so you can't go wrong. My only issue is that is doesn't have much memory and so you can only have 4-5 books saved on it at once. My daughter now owns 8-9 Tab books so not all of the stories can be loaded onto the pen. I think this is inexcusable on the part of Leap Frog especially in this day and age when you can get so much memory on such little memory chips. But maybe they have corrected that in the past couple of years since we bought my daughter's Tag.

Just buy him some books, or get him a library card.
